  1. i had the same thing on the liv a couple weeks ago. Caught the same fish with the exact same marking in the same spot.. ironically on the same adams fly. First time that has happened to me.. and i couldn't help but ask myself huh? really? did that just happen??

  2. so far this year i have only had one run in with a fellow.. i wasn't to pleased. I showed up at a run that i find very productive most of the year.. i was the only one there.. it was kind of nice.. i fished it for a bit and moved up kinda around the corner. About 10 minutes later i took a step back around the corner and their was a father and son duo fishing just below me. Clearly they were unaware of my presence. The quickly packed up and moved farther upstream. We exchanged a few pleasantries as we passed one another but nothing mean or offensive. I appreciated him moving on after he saw me.

now as i fish downstream and back to the whole i originally started at.. A guy walks down that bank and asked how i was doing this evening. I said nothing yet. And then this ass hat (to coin someone elses phrase) has the balls to say I'm just gonna fish up a bit, doesn't even ask. I assumed he meant up around the corner which would have been fine by me. But nope..just about ohhh 30ft upstream.. where i was basically casting my line and letting its drift downstream. I literally could have cast in his pants pocket. I'm sure you could have seen the steam coming from my ears and I'm sure my face was red as blood. But i never said a word.. just fished a for a few more minutes and then F this S, I'm just gonna go home.. completely ruined my night...

There isn't a chance in hell i would fish that close to someone without asking them first. But i guess some people are nice and pleasant and some are just dicks.

I really hope that the guy who mooched my run is on this board and reads this. I'm sure hes not because i have found most people on this board have a brain and know how to use it when it comes to etiquette. But i have been wrong before.

I'm going out Saturday for a drift. I will be sure to say hi to as many folks as possible and no.. i wont cast in the same run as any shore fisherman..

god damn I'm mad right now.. .i need a beer.....

  3. I have a guy at work that asked me who to talk to about learning how to fly fish. Him and his wife are eager to learn. I told him id post and see who would be up for the challenge. Any advise or input would be great. Thanks

They may also be interested in a float or walk and wade after a lesson. Not sure how it all works for the guides out there.

    Thanks ladies and gents

  4. i bought a fish cat 4 last summer and i had a hell of a time with it the first couple of times i went out.

I haven't really noticed any deflation in mine after i pumped it up.. im sure there is but i might just over fill mine a tad and then it goes down a bit but not enough to sink the ship.

as for the anchor. I went to wholesale bought 50ft of rope 2 carabiners and a 5lb down rigger weight and it works great. the one carabiner is hooked to the weight and the rope with a i guess you could say overhand loop knot. then the other end if overhand looped again and hooked through the carabiner and then do the D ring on the front left or right corner of the tube depending on wind direction. I like using the carabiners because its easy to release and tie a new knot higher or lower as the depth of the water changes.

for kicking like crazy. That happened to me to the first couple of times i got out there. I have the waterskeeter fins, they are great and go over your boots. (makes it easy if you have to portage or just want to stand and fish from shore for a while).

I do like what the other guys said about the dive shop. I never thought about that.. might go take a look.

I found that moving the tube kind of cross wind and into it is most effective when its windy. I also found that moving it efficiently comes with time, and finding a rhythm with your fins. I find myself kicking constantly but not very hard. More to keep me in the right direction. With the addition of the anchor i found i kick less and not as hard for sure. However, i have found that with a rocky bottom the anchor doesn't work to well at holding your in position but allows a great slow drift. If you find a good size rock to latch onto on the bottom your in a good spot to hold. Muddy bottoms or weedy bottoms are the best for holding you.

And lastly, the water in the back of the tube is normal. I always have water in mine. and i only weight 170.

have fun with the tube! its great to use when there are many people fishing from shore and your out in the middle in your own little world.

Always thought about bringing it out to dewitts when there are everyone fishing from shore, see if i can't piss a few gear huckers off..haha

  5. i was at dewitts this afternoon for a couple hours.. There were sporadic risers and it was quite windy.. Had a hit stripping a leech pattern, but it was a short strike. Had one take on a dry just letting it roll over the ripples.. missed that one too..other then that i should have headed to Mclean like mhd.. i thought about it and decided it was to far for me to go for 2 hours of fishing...

last week i was at dewitts and caught 10.. probably 7 or so on the dry.... what a difference a week can make..

  6. Yessss boys! Way to respond!

way to respond??...the score was 1 zip...may i remind you that they were outscored 12 to 1 in the last two games... just sayin...

where are the sedin sisters? They have been pretty much non existent this whole series... again.. just sayin.. paying an awful big salary x2 for minimal production

this series is going to 7..and i'm not even a boston fan

    go habs

  7. i dont think you went to far. Some people are just inconsiderate. I have found more and more people being that way. They just don't care or probably dont understand. Its to bad really.. I don't find having respect or consideration for others a hard concept to grasp. But some people struggle..

  8. I've decided that since I'm getting old, and would like to delay physically breaking down as long as possible, that I needed to do something about my physical fitness. So I decided to start biking to work. Since I live in Chaparral and work downtown, that's a pretty long haul. So I decided to drive to Southland Dog Park and bike in from there. Tonite was the test drive to see how long it would take. The route is pretty much along the Bow for the vast majority of the ride.

I did see lots (ok, maybe 10-15) fisherman during the ride. But it was amazing to me how much fairly easy to get to, very nice looking water was completely ignored. What I saw was that if there was not a parking spot within 5 minutes of a run, nobody would be in it. Now, I will readily admit I haven't really fished much at all above the dog park, so I don't know how it fishes. It would however shock me if there was not lots of good fishing between the park and the weir because there sure seems to be a lot of pretty water. Unless there was a bridge or someplace where where people could easily park, then there would be people. And when I did see fishermen, they were generally in groups. I think I only saw one or two guys fishing where no one else was around, though there were many, many opportunities. And I did see 3 guys fishing Southland with a bunch of dogs around. On the off leash side, which I always find funny.

People, no matter what you hear, this is NOT a crowded river. If you put 10 minutes into your feet, or better yet, into a bike, you can easily find fantastic water that you will have all to yourself. Hell, the city gave us bike paths to help us! Or you can go to all the popular places and wonder where all the people came from. I like easy to get to places as much as anyone. But I also have found it does not take much work to find solitude, even within the city limits.

well said. i have also found that if you walk 10 minutes from where you park you rarely find anyone else.. so in saying that.. i'm a walker! find me some fresh water
