Very nice, Rob; I'll bet it took you back in time some, huh?

A picture is worth a thousand words, what a great story you've told. Thanks for sharing. Nice work.
Check out Silverdoctor's blog & read some of his stories; you'll see that sometimes well-written words are worth a thousand pictures.

Very nice, Doc; looks like you had fun out there in the wind.

Congratz, Snapfisher; great pic!
Well done to Jayhad & Dune as well.
Now, everybody get your shots in for the November contest!

-My Lucky Birthday Reel-
My brother & his wife bought this reel for my birthday. I had hinted that I could use a new reel for my 2wt, & he found a deal on this one in June.
My birthday is in August, but my bro figured it made no sense to wait; he was right, that reel had landed lots of good fish by the time August rolled around. On the day this picture was taken, I landed an 18" & a 19" brown trout on consecutive casts on a small creek. On other trips to the same water, I was lucky enough to land a 21" & a 25" brown. Yep, this Orvis 2wt is definitely my lucky reel! The sketch on the rock is a nod to my favorite fishing forum...

Looks like a blast, dude! Gotta luv it when you never know what's gonna be on the end of your line next!

Great stories & pics, guys; keep 'em coming!
As for my most memorable fish of '09, it's a no-brainer...
I caught this 25" brown on a small creek, using my 6ft 2wt TFO rod...
Pretty easy to tell that I was stoked...
The best part, though, was having my 12 year old daughter there to share the moment with dear old Dad! She took a bunch of great
photos, & then insisted on reviving & releasing the trout back to the creek...
Sharing that experience with Rebecca makes that brown my most memorable fish of all time, not just of '09!

Ok, that is pretty serious.
I think that if your Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner operates for a few hundred years it will eventually obtain consciousness, like that robot in that robot movie. It will then start to try to find companionship. It will find humans fat and disappointing. Then it will seek out robot companionship, probably a cute one that flies with one eye that seems to portray emotion. Then it will get captured by evil short junk yard workers who have shiny red eyes and wear hoods and operate this big slow junk yard machine. It will then be disassembled and the cute one eyed robot will be sad. The end.
Thanks a lot, jackass! No point in watching that movie now; you've told me how it ends!!! Maybe I'll watch Titanic instead...

Great pics, Dale; it was nice to get out again with you & our ever-gracious host, Mike. Nice to meet Shawn & Peter as well.
Here's a couple pics I took...
Dale watches for slurpers...
Cookie cutter...
Mike prepares to net Dale's rainbow...
Dale with a pretty 'bow...
And, since it's not really worthy of a whole 'nother post, here's one I got on Friday...
Coolest part about being out on Friday morning? I turned around just in time to see a huge wind gust hit a couple big cottonwoods & remove about a million leaves all at once; for a few minutes the air was a swirling storm of dry leaves for hundreds of feet in the air. Freaky!

What are you useing to power it?
40 Merc...

Very nice; oughta do the trick...

Fine lookin' water wolves, Snapfisher.
Sounds like you had a couple good days; good on ya, man!

Steve,
Do you trace the images onto the wood, use transfers or do you sketch free hand?
Either way, nice work!
P
Yeah,I have no discernible artistic talent
; I find a pic I think I can work with & transfer it onto the wood with carbon paper.

I've actually looked in to this hobby and bought a book on it from Amazon. I haven't tried it yet but I will be near a Michael's today!! A questiom.....Will it set off smoke alarms?
It's never set off our smoke detector, & ours is really sensitive; it goes off every time we broil something in the oven.
Maybe it's because I breathe in most of the smoke....???
(Cough-cough...)
I think there are some fancy-schmancy units out there that allow you to adjust the heat, etc.; I don't have one of those.
Mine is a cheap unit I bought at a hobby store over 15 years ago; it has some inter-changeable tips, but almost always
just use the wedge tip for everything. Can still do some fairly detailed work, though....

Nice piggies, Tex!
No wonder you had to hang up & call me back; would be tough to land one of those with one hand!
-
Nice pyrography!!
Yeah, it's my 2nd favorite "-ography" that starts with the letter 'P'!

Did this woodburning for my daughter's bedroom(she has an ocean theme happenin')...
It's on bamboo & matches one I had done previously for her...
I figure it's a good use for a set of bamboo trays from Costco; here's the third one...
Now, I gotta get inspired to use up some beautiful oak that Tungsten supplied me with; thanks again, Mike!
-
Thank goodness for spare spools, eh?
Looks like you had a great trip, despite the ill fortune Tungsten forecast for you in the Shacknasties thread!
Some great pics; thanks for sharing them!

Bad idea to transport bull trout, the dragnet of COs in the province will nail you for sure. As long as your illegal activity is confined to near a river, you should be ok.
Better to just cook 'em out there and feed them to the your dogs (I was fishing Racehorse last week and tried a big bull for shore lunch - it was awful). I didn't have my dog with me, so felt bad about having to just throw it back into the river.
I find bull trout better if you have a nice smoked bald eagle appetizer...

That's it. Back to the lake this evening! They may be stupid, but they are BIG!!!!
Geez, sorry, I have to work this evening; maybe one evening next week???
