  1. police is pretty much frozen solid as of yesterday. I heard from a buddy that guys were out there ice fishing it last weekend. My buddy that was there yesterday figures it should be good for next weekend if the weather stays nice. alot of spots are starting to look more like a slurpee then an ice cube now i guess.

  2. Hey jeff I will come out and chase them pigs around henderson with you. back in the day when I first moved to lethbridge and first tried fly fishing I took my sweet canadian tire fly rod combo over the henderson and chucked on a floating foam hook that is meant for walleye rigs in a green and chartruesse color scheme. It took about half an hour and I was hooked into one of those hogs. It ended up snapping the rod and breaking my leader but I did have one hooked up for awhile. Over the years I have headed there but with no rod in hand just to watch them and see how they react. My dad picked up an 8 wt berkley cherrywood fly rod for me at a garage sale so I think I may get a reel and some 8 wt line and see if I can hook into some carp this summer. Maybe we can arrange to do a henderson trip for carp and a trip out to bullshead right at ice off to hook some footballs out there.

  3. I'm pretty new to fly fishing still and haven't had a whole lot of line experience but I can tell you that I hated my shark skin line. It picks up a ton of dirt and the head snapped off of it with very little use. I did like how it casts but I am sure I can find another line that casts as good or better and doesn't collect the dirt that it did. I bought a rio gold a few weeks ago and plan on testing it out on the crow in the next few weeks hopefully.

  4. I have read alot of good things about the clam tents. I myself bought the clam kenai a few weeks ago for my one man treks. They use a thermal fabric that is thicker then any others on the market from what I have heard. The fabric they use is the same stuff they use on their ice fishing thermal suits. The one I have also has alot thicker plastic on the sled and seems to be bigger then the frabil sled. I also notice that the kenai that I have has little molded rod, tackle, and tool spots on the front of the sled right by the seat. The clam was also $100 cheaper then the 1 man frabil. I know a few people with frabils and they really like them but I thought for the $100 savings I might as well try the clam out.

  5. A guy from work went out there on saturday. He said the road in was pretty bad and had to put it in 4 wheel drive. He did punch some holes but said there was only one other pair of guys out there. He said the fish were slamming the wooly buggers hard. He also said there is a foot worth of snow and about 17" of ice left on the lake and it was snowing when he was leaving. I doubt there will be any open water for then next few weeks at least.

  6. I have the 08 b4000 and it does struggle a bit but if you are getting a small boler you will be fine. I have an 18 foot travel trailer that I tow with mine with flipped axles and as long as it isnt stupid windy I can tow fine in 4th gear on my standard tranny. I have towed my trailer all over the province and never had enough trouble that I have had to pull over or anything.

  7. I can't wait for the ice to get on the lakes around here. But then again I can't wait for this friday since I will be in calgary and walking the bow. If anyone wants to head out during the day on friday just pm me. This will be my first time ever on that river so I'm pretty pumped and nervous at the same time.

  8. I have fished that river hundreds of times and every time I fish near houses on the reserve side there is always natives out with either fish on a stringer, stick, back of the truck, or are chucking bait. I have talked to both the fish and game and the natives. Fish and game said there is nothing they can really do since its part of their culture and the natives have said they can keep whatever they catch and do so on a regular basis. I don't think its right but I do try to ignore it now when i see it happening.
