  1. Patagonia has the best warranty/repair service in the industry. I returned two pair of waders, full chest wader and their original waist high. They then informed me that the chest high were repairable but they couldn't fix the waist high and gave me a $200 credit toward the purchase of any Patagonia product. When I contacted Patagonia to spend the credit toward a new pair of waist high and pay the difference ($200) they sent me the new pair for no additional charge, just the credit I had. They were shipped immediately and I received them within a week. The only cost to me was the initial shipping of two pair of waders. Worth the effort to send them back for sure!

  2. I pulled this from albertarelm.com

Can I have my fishing license on my phone?
Yes, you may take a picture of your license and store it on your mobile device as proof of having a license. ... However, we do have a mobile optimized website and those who purchase their license via a mobile device now download their license to their mobile device rather than receiving a printed license.Mar 17, 2016

Lol, such a typical response. the stats must be wrong, everything’s fine, the bow will recover.if there’s one sure way to get us to the bottom, it’s to do nothing

Lol, such a typical troll response. Attack, vilify and criticize. Nothing in the way of constructive input or suggested solutions. Keyboard warrior of the day...

Does Trans Alta have some of the blame as well?

Unfortunately flood mitigation trumps fisheries/recreational concerns. I'm not generally a conspiracy theorist but add to that the likelihood of power generation profiteering under the guise of flow management just may explain the weird flows we've seen the last few seasons.

I would like to see the fall city closure again. Close the mouth of the Highwood/Fishcreek for Rainbows in the spring. Social media has made an Instragram gong show of those locations.

Fertilize the Bow below the water intake like they do in BC to restore steelhead/salmon stream. Yes, we have world class sewage treatment but lack of nutrients may slow/stall recovery. Keep in mind that this is a tailwater fishery that otherwise has little to no downstream recruitment of nutrients nor spawning gravel. This would kick start the recovery of invertebrates etc. lost due to the 2013 flood.

Licence and manage the guiding biz that exploits our shared natural resource for free. Rod days or some such mechanism.

If anyone knows any of the Tran Alta shareholders that fly fish, I recommend you try to educate them to the current dire state of our fishery.

  5. I am currently tying on a Stonfo Kaiman Vice installed it on my Norvise deck. I was an early adopter of the Norvise system and after a decade or so my biggest issue is jaw deformation. The high carbon steel in the Kaiman jaw is what sold me. I know...I know it's not a Regal , but with a little tweaking/tuning it performs pretty good. So, Regal like action, good steel, on a hobo budget. IMHO

  6. This off the FaceBook page for the Alberta Native Plant Council:

OHV Use in the province has been a hot button issue as of late. Watch this video, from the Porcupine Hills Coalition, that helps shed some light on why in some cases this has been a problem. Responsible OHV use is an important part of protecting our natural areas.

What strikes me most is how quickly degradation can occur. The juxtaposition between an area with restricted OHV use and open OHV use is eyeopening.

I personally believe that better maintained trails could make a positive difference. Unfortunately, when I see videos like this I defer more to the folks that believe restricting access is the better solution.

I feel compelled to use the cliché..." you can't fix stupid." As more and more people buy into the " ****in giver" mentality, imho the only option is to restrict and enforce harshly. Once these areas are cut up, it takes many years to come back naturally.

Our waterways are under assault, every year another large swath of high country get hit.

I would like to see much stronger liability enforcement in the form of restrictive insurance coverage. Why should those that abuse the privilege be able to avoid any culpability unless it's posted to facebook. Just sayin...

  7. I believe there are very few people who are actually dense enough to believe what you have stated. I do believe provincially the NDP are the worst party to lead us when we are faced with the challenges of the present economy. In their defense I will say part of the reason is they have zero experience in political leadership skills and many lack experience in making hard decisions due to their age and lack of life skills. Federally if Mulcair can't handle his own finances I don't want him leading the country either. I won't bother ranting about Justin but I do believe that in the future Harper will be known as one of the greatest leaders Canada has ever known.

Thank you Load! For a minute there I thought this thread may degenerate into the bashfest we see on so many comment strips in MSM.

Jpinky, Renewal is critical. Many, including myself, overlook the shift in geopolitical trends resulting from mass migration worldwide. It appears that progressive socialism may just sweep the western world this coming decade. I think all the good people that support true progressive leaders have lost there party. So, come on back to middle ground and rebuild. Ditch the far right Capitalist Socialism that prioritizes corporate interests and shareholder greed. Balance our efforts to represent all Albertans. Not just the powerful, the privileged or the "connected" and the whiney bitches. Disassociate from Rebel.com and Alberta First... radicals that act out anarchy will only serve to divide and hate. Otherwise choose #1
