  1. "Brookie Oatman" Watercolor and gouache. After doing a bit of inventory control, I found this post from April that was not numbered. So it now has it's rightful place and number. View the full article
  2. "Sulfur Dun" Watercolor and Sharpie Pen. This fly is dedicated to Darrel Stark. Darrel's friend Jean had requested the fly in an email. Unfortunately Darrel Stark recently passed away. You can read more about Darrel's story here. As Jean put it, Darrel died at the age of 62 of an enlarged heart, the enlarged heart he had for fly fishing, his family and friends. 3. "Neon Fly" Digital - My buddy Corey suggested this one. I am not quite satisfied with the way it came out. At a quick glance, it looks like a smoldering cigarette. I will have to try this again with a different fly. View the full article
  4. "Streamer Triptych" Hand sketch - This is a sketch for a future painting. It will be done as a triptych or three panel painting. View the full article

  7. "Dr Burke" Digital - Illustrator. This is another one from the yet to be disclosed project. I would like to do something similar to this in charcoal. View the full article
  8. "P.E.I. Fly" Digital - Illustrator. This is a fly that was done for an upcoming project that I worked on. When I can divulge the details, I will. The following is an account on the details of this fly. It was written by Darren MacEachern for flyangler.ca. I will. There is some confusion surrounding the true name of this fly. J. Edson Leonard's book "Flies" refers to the pattern as the PE Fly named after Prince Edward. The pattern may also be found in Paul Schmookler & Ingrid V. Sils "Forgotten Flies"(p 274, 275) printed as Prince Edward. The Prince Edward or PEI fly was tied originally with feathers from the now endangered Red Ibis. Because of this, I use red Chinese hen Saddle as an acceptable substitute. The PEI Fly is used to target inland Maritime Brook Trout and the St. Lawrence "White Trout". The PEI fly is featured in Canada Post's 2005 Fishing Flies collection. View the full article
  9. "Egg Sucking Bunny Leech" 12" x 18" Watercolor. This is a Rick Kustich pattern that I will be tying for our club on Monday night. I modified it by adding the Guinea collar and a flash wing. View the full article
  10. "Caddis Experiment" 12" x 18" Watercolor and ink. I experimented with just putting random washes down, then adding the ink. Very loose and impressionistic. View the full article

  13. "Copper Bob Study" 12" x 16" watercolor. Bob White is the originator of this fly. It is not to be confused with the Copper John. Bob White is an incredible artist and all around great person. I met Bob and his wife Lisa at a trade show a few years back. They are both the most genuine and giving people. If you have not done so, you should sign up for Bob's Thursday Morning Art Review. Every Thursday morning you will receive an email with some great featured artwork and fantastic stories! I will be posting a more refined Copper Bob in the future. View the full article
  14. "Silver Rat" 5" x 7" watercolor. View the full article
  15. "Chinese Brush Fly 1" 8" x 10" watercolor. My wife suggested I try using a Chinese brush to paint a fly. My Son has a Chinese brush painting kit, so I borrowed his brush to try. You are suppose to use inks ground from these solid chunks that they supply in the kit. I skipped that and used watercolors. Did not come out exactly as planned. Will have to try again.
