  1. Way off topic or may be not. May be we could hold the people responsible that are dividing up our tax dollars. We have fund raisers for far to many things that should be the responsibility of Government. School's, Hospitals, and Fisheries Enforcement come to mind. We have expertise hired to make tough decisions that should be in the best interests of us all, its still up to our elected officials to set a direction. Bleep the Bull Trout long live the Mcleod Rainbows.

  2. It's deja vu all over again, I thought I all ready posted on this thread before? How about being on topic. May be we could create some unnatural natural barriers and try to work above them, draw a line in the sand. For example I noticed the Rainbow infestation of the upper Castle's accelerated greatly after the extreme high water in 95 blasted the Castle Falls allowing easier up stream migration. Just dreaming out loud.

  3. A lot depends on spring moisture. In 1995 we had average snow pack but 4 inchs of warm rain brought the whole works down. I did notice the Waterton and Oldman Dams seem very full so there is no flood relief at all there. I think the variability of the water last year was the high water table from the never ending rains, the water had no where to go but run to the rivers and streams on the surface. Long and slow starting today would be good for me.

  4. #17 is good but there could be more than #1 #17. I lost count. How bout # 69 when stuck in the bottom or wood throw a big loop past the obstruction then give it a all haul. The line beyond will cause a reverse jerk. Nothing like a good reverse jerk when ever.

  5. I will stick with yes. I went through several fazes including the dozen boxs of seldom used ties and a bunch of stuff I was going to use, now I go with the ties I use. Further to that I only use traditional materials but I'm not saying what anyone else should do, and it may be hard for many of you to believe but I catch my share, enough to make my sport very enjoyable. In the words of a wise old conservationist, "The vast majority of the new ties are nothing more than slight variations of existing patterns, and they probably contribute more to the vanity of the fisherman than to the discomfiture of the fish." RHB.

  6. Well I have to say you sound like a great big brother and I wish I would have had one just like you but I'm afraid the only place I've fished is in Calgarys beautiful Bow and then only once or twice a year. Try to get out to the FF expo I'm sure there will be lots of local experts who could help you out. With any luck you two can have a life time of good times together out on the water.

  7. I've found that old fashioned toe rubbers will make studded boots drift boat safe. I never travel far to fish so have stayed with felt. Tried studded boots way back and found they did improve traction at first until the felt wore down a bit. Once that happened they actually provided far less traction and after a couple wet wipe outs they were retired permanently.

  8. I have my eye on a fairly recent tail water. The flows are constant and the pre-dam species info shows a reasonable forage base. Nothing post-dam is available how ever history shows the occational far travelled Brown of imense proportions present. I think there is an opportunity for a tail water Trout fishery where no fishery at all has been present to date. I have a pick and a shovel and know how to plant Willow spears. Can I just wander out and start enhancing the Stream bed? Can I just bucket in Brown Trout Brood? What do you think?

  9. I'm with ube I have a 3/8 thick square high density foam cut with v's to hold 4 double/triple rigs with at least one of a double dry big/small combo. I wrap the line around as needed. I cut it to fit in a outside pocket so drying is not a major problem. The flys getting messed is an issue but if a quick change is in order I've found a well tied duo at your finger tips can be an asset. I would prefer to tye on as needed but cold finger tips make pre tyed combos even more attractive.

  10. OK here it is, the worthless douche (icon) is obviously fishing with a SJW (jig) sugesting very low moral integraty. He has no respect for the limit your catch portion of the Alberta Regs. He reminds me of every jet boating (douche) guide I've ever met. Lets get the FF Christmas spirit. I hope I dont get banned again.
