  1. Bing has free source geolocated imagery if you wanted to use that. Usually within a year or two current.

If time commitments are flexible, I could likely provide some GIS support. Just reach out if interested.

Any talk of using drones for these surveys? They are an economical way to cover areas, give flexibility for timing of data review, and are safer overall. Some jurisdictions in the states have developed solid protocols for using them for red surveys.

  2. I don't think altering behavior to accommodate intolerance is the best plan. It seems to me it only reinforces that intolerance, or at the very least condones it. All user groups need to learn that everyone has a right to our river.

Bron, I don't know. I have accessed down from there before and found not great water and poor fishing. Never bothered based on that experience.

Fun story: I once had someone ask me at the Southland dog park if I was fishing for dogs.

Can't we all just get along?

  3. I keep Brookes often. I did the stewardship program in the last year, and bonked lots. I also don't have any issues keeping stocked fish, except in lakes where I know a lot of effort has been put into the fishery. I keep fish often from my community lake, except to odd trophy fish that I can't bring myself to bonk.

  4. Yeah Jayhad. One can only expect so much. I dont know of a more solid wader or boot than Simms.

I have had a pair of original model Guides for a long time now. I don't think I have repaired them yet. But Bron probably has more days on his in three seasons than I have on mine in 8.

That said, Simms has always been a solid company. Send them back and see what happens.

  5. I am part of the study. It is very basic data collection for basic science. Just figuring where it occurs. After some alarm of heavy blooms in recent years, scientists are starting to wonder how long the species has been here and what role it plays in the ecology. It was originally called invasive, but now considered native, but they still don't know what triggers heavy blooms.

  6. I use the same double sided bead boxes for my hooks and beads. Unless you use hanging storage, I don't think these can be beat. If you are fussed about hook models or bead and hook sizes, the labeling would be a hassle.

  7. It is photoshopped. Based on the guys hands in relation to the fish, it is stupid big. I'd guess at least 3-4 times larger than the Palmer pic Clive linked to. And that is probably a double digit Palmer fish. We just don't grow them like that here. Also, I'm not sure a fish that age would have any slashing still.

  8. I wonder what Jim feels about this move?

I'm sorry I skipped the meeting. Figured it was a review of numbers; I should have known better. Was there any talk in the meeting of the success of the two tiered licensing system, and how that may effect management in future years?

Sorry to see this go, for personal reasons, as well. I only motivated last year to sign up, and enjoyed it thoroughly.
