  1. I use myself a 7wt for all my steelhead fishing , if I was going to target chinooks then I'd pump it up to a 9 or 10 wt in a Spey rod

As for tips , I've had and used them mow tips , they ok , I now prefer to use rio type tips , I just them better , I carry on me at all times a type 3, 6 , and 8

You go fish and you'll figure it out fast

    Good luck

  2. Flyfishing, It's a full contact sport..Mike

funny as I just heard through the grapevine , rumour is Dana White is looking at CJ for future fights in the UFC ,

If he could get enough fly fisherman to show up down at policemans , might be the next hottest ticket in town , hold the grudge match in the old parking lot ,

  3. I heard Lincoln guy was from Red Deer??

who cares really , if he was from red deer , edmonton or even calgary ,

that shouldn't matter at all , what does matter is what he was that morning

he was a mouthy D bag and tried to be a big bully to a bunch of other fly fisherman who where minding there own and some waiting in line to launch ,

i'm sure this will smart'n him up , he was nothing but a little dog with a big bark and he barked at the wrong guide ,

now for our visiting soft loveable huggable texan Rickr

your giving me a good laugh with your BS posts

if this happen down in your state, someone would of got shot as you texan's love your guns , ;mornCoffee:

  4. As much as I think Police needs all the friends it can get right now, how bout the goon club from Calgary stay home from now on, we don't need your act in peaceful southern AB thank you very much.

why don't you just share this with all of us Brian , please do tell us more ,

am i the only one thats missing something here , i'm sure these guys have never been down south or been to police lake to fish , ????

  5. i know first hand what all went down , allot more to the story then stated ,

the guy was mouthy and got just what he deserved ,

he was mouthy to a few to many people that morning ,

and my bud never hauled him out of his truck , he got out and decided he was going to push my friend around, well it backfired on him , he got just what he deserved , then he called sulking to the RCMP after having his ass whipped , they showed up and talked to everyone , all sides and all witness ,

the good guide got a friendly pat on the back and told to carry on and take his clients out fishing for the day , justice was served

what the mouthy person didn't know was that the clients were getting it all on vid while it was going down , as soon as the boys in red seen the video , was enough to know that the guide was fine in defending himself ,

and just so everyone knows , my bud had his boat already in the water launched , the mouthy guy was blocking him from getting out , and he was also being rude to a few others in line waiting , he;ll think twice next time he decides to shoot off and do a bully act ,

  6. How about not being IGNORANT and learning the rules BEFORE you fish. The user of the resource has a responsibility to know the regulations that's why officers don't hand out free flies and give fishing tips. FInes are what are deserved by those who abuse the resource. I totally agree with taking the time with and angler on the bank for friendly advice, teaching and help to those not breaking any rules however; when it comes to breaking rules that are printed out in black and white in the regulations we should all have zero tolerance.

    X 2 ,

    and very well said

you just can't fix stupid , plain and simple fact ,

it reminds me of the time the guy from texas i think he was here visiting , and asking for help on spots to go fish and any tips , everyone stepped up and gave him help , next thing you see him with pictures holding a 28 inch brown by the gill plate like a big old large mouth bass , one picture showed the fish on its side in the water and it's gill plate was stuck open to the side, no way in hell that fish lived ,

maybe look the other way if it's a young kid , but as far as i'm concern , if it's a grown adult being stupid like that , he deserves a fine ,

  7. if you really want to push it , call the F&W guys and request them to look into it , the rules are broken in the way he is handling that fish , you have to release the fish asap without harm , that picture is enough for them to lay charges ,

holding onto it by the gill like a bass for a picture is not cool in my books ,

just send them the link and picture, thats all you have to do ,

  8. i'm really hoping for a big big run off and blow all them sick fish out of here ,

the river is full of sick fish and thats the best that could help in the short team ,

last week i was on the river 5 days , i never seen so many sick whitefish , dead and floating , a few rainbows and only couple browns , seen a few fish mixed up in the head also , swimming weird , jumping

this is way beyond a handling issue , not saying thats not a good point , just i don't think it started whats happening in the river now ,

i will also say Dave , that i think that silt was bad and still is bad , it's still on the rocks after one good run-off and no doubt it's bad for bug life ,

best thing that could happen is a big flush

  9. Been on SP 3 yrs now.....no problems.

But then again, most SP members actually know wtf they are talking about,so it's easy for me to get along there.

thats just to funny , why don't you ask them spey pages guys if they would use a 5 wt or even a 6 wt single hand rod for true steelhead , BC steelhead

oh hell with it , even better just tell em how good you are that you could get away with it like your posts here stated ,

  10. How about a nice 5wt just in case the winner wants to go steelheading? :spam:

just way to funny shredneck , such a nice post for a friday afternoon , LMAO

he can take his high & mighty opinions and post them on speypages , see how long he lasts before being banned on that site , ha ha

  11. A guide on the Bow told him hahaha thats a new one. Salmon fishing on the coast without barbs was another story going around. Fishing up north with some buds for pike was another story. And on and on and on. Truth is I told him it was a great idea. I got the idea from the owner of some long gone fishing forum. I said Dave says its a good idea. Ralph said who is this Dave? I said its the guy that saved the North Raven and the Red Deer river. Also the guy who is starting Streamwatch. Ralph said he loved Daves forward thinking and pushed barbless for all of us to enjoy. So now when I lose a fish before the net I call it a Jensen

    way to funny

  12. Fishing licenses are now available for purchase, visit your local fly shop or retailer and pick one up Before April 1. Don’t forget to grab a sports fishing regulation and read it, does you no good sitting in a drawer. Just a tip I usually keep my license (those silly receipts) in a small Zip lock bag to keep the moisture out.

And remember it’s not legal till you sign it and also don’t laminate it as it will be damaged and made void. You can also purchase them online and print them out yourself (good way to get multiple copies)

Be careful out there and be sure you have the RAP (report a poacher) phone number on speed dial.

    Have a great season everyone!!!

X 2 for sure Doc on that speed dial on your cell for report a poacher , every bit helps , and take a picture with your cell if your floating and it don't look right '' worm hanging off the ol hook ''' , them fish cops love it when you make the job easy on them
