  1. I haven't done tubes, yet. Simply because the tube fly adapter is another 40 bucks that i can spend on other things..i'll probably get there eventually.

Do a search on ebay for felting needles.

Stick it in the vise, you may need to flatten the faces of the needle to stop it moving.

    Slide on tube (cotton bud).

If the tube spins a piece of flexifloss will stop it.

They even take the tubes with liners already inserted.

These are very similar to Frodin's needles that cost a LOT more than you'll get the felting needles for.

  2. baet1.jpg

    Hook: #14 FM Nymph

    Tails: PT

    Body: olive latex

    I know................... the barb.

  3. can I ask what kinda of cameras you guys/gals are using and what kinda lens if using a SLR

A Panasonic DMC-LZ2 point and shoot. Good macro on it but the main thing is setting the white balance to your tying lights, if you don't do this the photo has a colour cast to it.

  4. Nice. :)

Try one with the bead in the thorax behind the hackle, gives the hackle more movement in the water.

I'm not saying you should tie them all this way but it's worth having a few in the box.

  5. there's the next competion for flies. the smallest actual pattern one can tie and submit. LOL

Taco wins just by having the rare as rocking horse dooh dah Mustad #32 hooks (I wouldn't sully them with fur or feather either, well maybe one). ;)

As for a #24 intruder......... forget it, tie the stinger on and the hook is full. :o

  6. Nice tie tango! Don't forget to crimp your barb LOL. I always find the hardest thing about tying on hook sizes that are real small is getting the vise jaws to hold it proper, But I think 22 is about the smallest have tied...... Can't even get smaller then 18 in canmore. Let us see some of your creations when your done. Maybe try a small clouser

I'll leave the #28/30 clousers to Hans W, I had enough trouble seeing this. As for the vise jaws holding small hooks....... no problem with a LAW. ;)

    Tango-

"Peacock herl from the wrong side of the sword feather, red 12/0 thread for the body tag, micro Zelon for the wing and get down into the neck on the cape for the hackle. This is on a #28 TMC100."

Well alrighty then. I should have said Intruder!

If I knew what one looked like I may try it.

  9. I'll be doing a video sbs of the weaving soon, can't use a still camera beacause I'd need 4 hands. Or if you can weave already I can knock up a quick sbs for you.

  10. to work with as it catches any rags in my finger tips and gives a frayed look instead of a nice smooth finish.

Most of the classic salmon tyers use silk gloves to overcome this. I have enough trouble wrapping it with bare fingers, no chance with gloves on.

LS, for your 2nd go at a spider that is excellent. B)
