  1. Pythagoras:

One problem with the sudden influx of consitutional experts coming out of the closet is glaringly obvious:

I haven't heard one single Conservative supporter as of yet - on tv, radio, and internet, claim that this is illegal. And I have been wasting time following this closely. ;)

Just because something is allowed, legal, and constitutional doesn't mean its justified.

That's my problem. Could go into a whole rant, but its late - maybe tomorrow.

    Smitty

You may have forgotten the only two reasons for politicians to exist....1. Gain Power 2. Keep that power at any cost.

The coalition is just working on #1 and the CPC is working on #2

  2. OK...here is where the language gets muddy....

"Canadian voters provided the Conservative Party with a clear and

strengthened mandate"...well thats not true...we gave them a clear MINORITY government...not a clear mandate.

"impose an unstable, unelected Liberal-NDP-separatist coalition" - Everyone involved in the coalition was elected to a seat...and just what do you mean by unstable...my definition of unstable shows a photo of Harper in a vest.

"THAT Canadians have the democratic right to choose who will govern them and not have a surprise Prime Minister chosen through an unseemly

and undemocratic backroom deal." Ummm....we choose MLAs and they form a government...the unseemly undemocratic backroom deal is another way of saying 'how government in this system works.

Anyhoo...makes great fodder for blood pressure meds don't it?

Worst economic crisis EVER and our government takes a prolonged x-mas break to save itself from loosing its job...the 400 poor ba$tards at ATCO should have taken a few weeks off just as the axe was falling on them..

According to our MP the internet petitions can't be given to parliament. Naturally they will get attention if millions sign them.

Here is an official parliamentary petition as send by our MP.

HAS to be at your MP's place by this Friday. I presume they will accept PDFs of the completed petition.

Dryfly...no offence but you gotta read that thing...no matter how much you might hate the idea, what the coalition has manovered to do is legal under our system. I'm not a big fan of it either but signing ill worded blindly angry petitions isn't the answer. To be truthful I think Harper is at fault here...alot of the anger about this problem belongs in his lap...wow did he ever screw the pooch on this one...

  4. So sad on so many different layers....Harper screws the pooch with dirty/petty politics (with a minority Gov!)....The evil sovereignists even being able to run as a federal party...cheezy camera phone quality address from the opposition...world in economic meltdown (it's pretty bad out there folks) and all we get is bureaucracy, petty politics and power grabs...I could go on but I'm hitting the keys a little too hard for my liking.

P.S...Don't hold back Dryfly...tell us how you really feel! lol

    little experiment,

here's one of my current favorite criks, lets see if there's more than one set of boot tracks next summer, 49 52'51.86"N, 114 03'12.70"W

No Kidding...pretty sure I've been there...I didn't google the location but I think I know that creek...when I was there there was a pretty big road sign stuck in a corner about 1/2 a click from any roads.

  6. People tend to listen to anecdotal evidence that supports their views and disount evidence, anecdotal or not, that does not support. I would say the same thing about your choice of magazines. If the magazine does not support your position it is "biased". If it does support, then it's fair and reasoned.

I could say the same thing about critical thinking, or "educated" in general. Amazing how often the people we consider to be critical thinkers or eductated have views that align with our own. I would say the correlation approaches 100%.

Not critiquing your views actually. I think we all need to educate ourselves, though I would say finding an unbiased opinion today is damn near impossible. And I also don't think the majority is always, or maybe even often, correct. But just because the views are different than your own does not mean the people espousing those views are uneducted or non-critical thinkers.

rickr...if you don't stop making sense were gonna have to kick you off this forum.

  7. As the uniformed ass in question...

It was a joke, sent to me by a canadian as a joke. And while I have never stepped foot on a Canadian vessel, I have gotten drunk with some Canadian sailors in Hawaii. Seemed like good guys with good gear, but this was in the mid 80s.

As an aside...I found myself in Virgina Beach after the end of the first Gulf War...or was it just intermission....anyhoo...Was in a bar with my buddie having a few and there was a rowdy table behind us loaded with angry young men...one of these guys comes up to me and says 'where are you from?" gotta say I was a little afraid...told him I was a Canadian....he breaks into a big smile and yells to his buds that I was Canadian....seems the Canuks had been able to get the odd beer to them while on tour...let me tell you for the next x hours I met dozens (hundreds?) of sailors...they took me to 'their' bar and I had at least 3' of bar infront of me filled with beers...someone new would come into the bar and would be introduced to me and they would say something like "I owe you a beer"...I got hammered...even at the end they piled me into a cab and paid the fair....was a great day.

  8. What's funny is that if you look on the front facing of the deck. It says "US NAVY"

    :ridemcowboy:

    Good eye!

As for the phalanx, it didn't stop those #@!*^$s from hurting the Cole and her crew.

As Stanley Baldwin said 'the bombers will always get thru'.

The Canadian frigate is still a very capable weapon platform.

Have seen the next thing for the Mericans...reminds me of the Minator (old iron clad)

  9. This should put the nasties back on track... conclusive proof....

The Climatic Research Unit study on polar warming was a 2008 study on anthropogenic climate change in the polar regions led by the Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia, and focused primarily on finding a link between polar warming and human involvement. The study found that warming at the polar ice caps was due to the net effect of "man's influence... through greenhouse gases and ozone depletion".[2][3] (Ozone depletion has a cooling effect opposed to the influence of greenhouse gases.)

The study is the first of its kind for the polar regions, as studies beforehand such as a United Nations climate panel[4] stated that global warming had been felt on every continent except Antarctica. Scientists from the United States, United Kingdom and Australia participated.
