troutdude Posted January 25, 2016 Share Posted January 25, 2016 I have been looking at building a custom 5wt rod for the last few months but wanted to get some advice from some knowledgeable and experienced builders first. I have never done this before and I am wondering how difficult it really is? is there any specific websites or books that would be helpful to reference? Any and all advice is helpful! fishpro Posted January 26, 2016 Share Posted January 26, 2016 I'm not sure of specific websites, but I know that when I started I just bought a kit and then googled to learn how. Instead of a rod wrapper, I used a cardboard box with v-shaped notches cut out of the sides to hold the rod and the front partially cut down to have access to the rod. I'm ordering a build kit from swift this winter, and hope to document the process.
