Guest Sundancefisher Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 http://www.openoffice.org/ I just started using this. It seems a nice home alternative to buying Word or Wordperfect. Anyone have any problems with it? Quote
birchy Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 It's worked fine for me the times I've used it. Quote
headscan Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Works alright in a home environment or where everyone else is using it as well. If you're in a collaborative environment where other people are using MS Office then it's useless - things like comments and change tracking don't carry over. I rely heavily on those features so OpenOffice is a non-starter for me. Quote

I use it every now and then if I'm bringing work home from the office, depending on what it is I'm working on. Quote
Harps Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 My wife uses it on her little laptop (just since xmas)... seems fine, and closer to the 2003 word which I like better than the new one with tabs (comfort thing). I hadn't realized tracking didn't carry over... that would be a issue. Quote
headscan Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The last time I used OO it didn't support change tracking and comments - at least not in a way that Word was able to use. I don't know if more recent versions of MS Office or OO have fixed that. Quote
