sirocco Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Hi everyone, Has anyone ever tied with Spirit River's A-Lure beads? I bought some for use on egg-sucking patterns but the holes drilled in them are too small to slide onto a streamer hook, or actually any hook for that matter. Is there a tying technique to get around this, or am I just missing something? Also, can you use caribou as a substitute for deer hair in terms of spinning? Cheers Erik Quote
rusty Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Someone at FTT a few years back gave me a patch of caribou. I found that it spun even better than deer, but fine thread had a tendency to cut into the fibers if you pulled too hard. Quote
markd Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Caribou is the hair for spinning, better then any others Quote
admin Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Cariboo is great to spin. Just be sure to use 3/0 or larger thread. I think I know the beads you are talking about. They usually are used to enhance the connection to a trailer hook on a tandom fly. Quote
