So I'm heading to Sylvan Lake for may long. It opens on Friday so i wanted to give fishing a shot.

I have fished for pike and walleye lots but not on the fly. I am basically wondering if my streamers i use on the bow are good enough for the pike or if i should look into getting some bigger ones? And what kind would be productive? Any other tips would be awesome.

I've caught a ton of walleye and small pike out of pigeon on wolly buggers. Both black and olive seemed to work for me, fished on a slow, steady retrieve right on the edge of a drop-off or weed line.

Another good fly for both pike and Walleye is a 4" orange and yellow clouser. Don't forget to use wire for the tippet. Tyger wire and Cortland Toothy Critter can both be tied with regular knots. Have fun and hold on tight.
