MonsterEnergy Posted March 10, 2012 Share Posted March 10, 2012 Hows da Allen reels preform on teh rods like a 5wt? im looking at da alpha series and its seems pretty cheap for a sick ass reel. whats yur veiws for tis setup? im not puttin a penny more then 120 on a reel. For the money they are nice looking reels, the drag is outstanding, it's put a stopping to some ocean bright salmon and bow river rainbows in October. If they aren't the best reels for the money, they are tied with the g loomis venture series. My one knock on them, is the spool tends to rub against the frame. Which is a bit frustrating, and odd feeling, but you can't expect everything out of a 100 dollar reel. Their rods are great values as well!
