gravelman Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Is there any decent stream or small lake fishing in the vincinity of greater vancouver for a 6 wt fly rod? Quote
NormanMcLean Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 When I was a kid growing up in Vancouver, my dad took me to the Barnett River. A small stream right in the middle of Burnaby. I believe it had brookies. The water was a little polluted, but there was fish there. You could always give the Fraser River a try. Quote

I think you mean the Brunette River, flows out of Burnaby lake through New Westminster, lots of small cutties, odd rainbow and recently bass . Used to fish it a lot as it was close to home and always gave up a few scrappy fish on a 3wt. Colin Quote
Grizz Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I heard the Pacific Ocean is petty good but you should keep it quiet! (ha ha - someone punch me!). There are a number of opportunities within the Greater Van area. You can try the salt, some of the rivers, or numerous lakes in the vicinity. It's all about the travel time really. When you say Greater Vancouver...how greater? 1 hr? 2 hrs? 20 mins? Where are you starting from? 20 mins from New West can be much longer from West Van. Quote
Highlander Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Lots of opportunities. When are you coming, how far are you willing to travel and do you prefer lakes or rivers? Quote
