Light Weight Boat

hello all,

i'm looking for the lightest possible boat for me and my two dogs. obviously inflatable is not the way to go so i need something i can lift and carry myself and i'm driving a jeep wrangler with no roof rack. i've looked into frog boats and porta-botes but i haven't heard much about them and dont know anyone who owns one and they seem to be rather expensive. i dont want to spend more than $1000. any advice?

I don't believe you will be able to find anything that will met all those needs. But the best of luck to you.

The "Porta-Bote" meets all your criteria.. except for cost, which is probably the most important one.

Take a look at Walker Bay boats , we had an 8' for quite a few years and it was very light and fairly stable, price is around what you are looking to spend, sometimes they show up on craigslist for a decent price.

A trailer hitch and a couple more $K and problem solved. A small Jon or even an older drift boat.

went fishing today and the only other guy at the lake just happened to have a walker bay boat and gave it a ringing endorsement. decision made. thanks all.
