zed Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 hello all, i'm looking for the lightest possible boat for me and my two dogs. obviously inflatable is not the way to go so i need something i can lift and carry myself and i'm driving a jeep wrangler with no roof rack. i've looked into frog boats and porta-botes but i haven't heard much about them and dont know anyone who owns one and they seem to be rather expensive. i dont want to spend more than $1000. any advice? thanks. But the best of luck to you. Quote
birchy Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 The "Porta-Bote" meets all your criteria.. except for cost, which is probably the most important one. Quote
CDone Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Take a look at Walker Bay boats , we had an 8' for quite a few years and it was very light and fairly stable, price is around what you are looking to spend, sometimes they show up on craigslist for a decent price. Colin Quote

Giovanne Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 A trailer hitch and a couple more $K and problem solved. A small Jon or even an older drift boat. Quote
