Caught a few cutthroat yesterday, caught a cuttie on a fly when this bull trout came over and hammered the cuttie off the fly and hit my dropper nymph a 16 copper john what a rush.DSCF1122.jpgth_DSCF1121.jpg[/url

Ididnt have a chance to measure him as I wanted him to get back to the water as it was a pretty long fight, his gill plate seemed normal as he swam away.I think its just the way Im holding the fish in the net.

thats wicked, i wish i could trade all my cuts for bulls in the same fight...its like a legal stringer lol great fish

I bet that's how bull trout populations decreased. Back in the day, dudes would go to the river with a hook and worm, catch a stringer full of small cutts, then toss the stringer into the river. Rip it back out and got themself a stringer of bull trout. :fishing:

Does that bull have undersized gill plates? Or does it just appear that way in the photos?

 

There are a few Bulls in that certain water that have underdeveloped Gill plates along with missing pec fins....It happened in the hatchery, with a slight miscalculation of chemicals...I have a couple pics to share, I posted some a couple years back...Nice Bully Btw...
