Birddog Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Caught a few cutthroat yesterday, caught a cuttie on a fly when this bull trout came over and hammered the cuttie off the fly and hit my dropper nymph a 16 copper john what a rush.[/url Quote
SteveM Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Does that bull have undersized gill plates? Or does it just appear that way in the photos? Nice fish, BTW. How big??? Quote
Birddog Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Ididnt have a chance to measure him as I wanted him to get back to the water as it was a pretty long fight, his gill plate seemed normal as he swam away.I think its just the way Im holding the fish in the net. Quote
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 thats wicked, i wish i could trade all my cuts for bulls in the same fight...its like a legal stringer lol great fish Quote
Christofficer Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 its like a legal stringer lol great fish I bet that's how bull trout populations decreased. Back in the day, dudes would go to the river with a hook and worm, catch a stringer full of small cutts, then toss the stringer into the river. Rip it back out and got themself a stringer of bull trout. Quote
beedhead Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Does that bull have undersized gill plates? Or does it just appear that way in the photos? There are a few Bulls in that certain water that have underdeveloped Gill plates along with missing pec fins....It happened in the hatchery, with a slight miscalculation of chemicals...I have a couple pics to share, I posted some a couple years back...Nice Bully Btw... Cheers...Jeff.. Cant seem to find the pics of the missin pec fins, maybe Ill find them later... Quote
