Over the past 3 weeks Iron Bow Fly Shop has been broken into 2 times, the first was Jan 5th and again last night Jan 26th. Please if anyone has any information on this please contact Iron Bow Fly Shop or the Calgary Police Service. The first time the crackheads (video footage) took Sage, Scott and Redington rods and last night they came back for reels. They have stolen over $50,000 dollars (wholesale) worth of equipment and have to be selling it somewhere, so if you see rods with no tubes, or missing rod tips, Sage, Lamson, Nautilus, 3-Tand reels for sale, please contact us.

Paul Laframboise - Flies For Selective Trout - 12 PM. Saturday March/15/2014
Many of you will recognize Paul from the shop on the weekends. We don't really know where Paul fishes nor do we ask but we have seen photos of fish that make us wonder. Paul becomes a ghost during the summer months and with the upcoming season quickly approaching you will want some of his patterns in your box before you head out. Paul shows you some of his favorite innovative Emergers, Terrestrials, Streamers and Nymphs. Get here early, get a seat, have a coffee and talk to Paul about his patterns and how to fish them.

One of the Bow River's young up and comers, it is rare to see someone take to Fly Fishing and Tying as Darrion has. His Fly Tying skills are way beyond his years and his attention to detail is unsurpassed, it won't be long before you see him behind a set of oars haunting your favourite runs. Darrion will be tying some of his secret Bow River and Area streamers patterns with some of todays newest tying materials.

2014 Beginner Fly Fishing Schools
Iron Bow's Beginner Fly Fishing Schools are designed to take the new angler through the basics and onto the water for preparation of the upcoming season. The class is split into 2 sections with the morning spent in the classroom with a comfortable mixture of personalized tackle and strategy sessions, learning "the basics" understanding your gear, leaders,knots, basic entomology and flies through to reading water and on-water techniques. After lunch, in the afternoon we will concentrate on learning the basic casting techniques and strategies.
The classes are hosted on a private pond. The Instructors are some of the areas finest Guides and Teachers. At the end of the class all students will get the opportunity to put their new found skills to the test and fish for leader breaking Rainbows.
Cost $150.00 plus GST.
All equipment is included as well as lunch and beverages. If you would like to bring your own equipment this is encouraged as well.
Maximum 10 students, 2 Instructors.

Jim Butt is a permanent fixture on the Lower Bow River, Jim has always loved his small flies and has recently taken up fishing Tenkara Rods and the flies that go with. Learn these productive patterns from one of the most knowledgeable anglers we know. Seminar starts at 12 pm on Saturday Marc 01 2014. So bring a pen and paper we'll have the coffee on and enjoy a afternoon learning with us.
