  1. Yea, just be careful if your anchored and fishing from the craft. I've done it many times, and it just takes one thing to go wrong. Anyway if anyone finds a 6wt Helos 2 or a 5wt switch rod let me know, I have the serial numbers.
  2. Ok, the anchor got stuck in the rocks in some heavier water than I would have liked. The boat handles it pretty well for what it is. So I thought I might be able to motor above or beside it to dislodge it. The boat got sideways and when I dropped the rope I got tangled on the throttle control on the side of the boat, that was it. I went in, and if I hadn't been wearing a pfd I might not be alive. In hindsight; just cut the rope; wish I had.
  3. It's all good no worries.... what boat?
  4. There sure are, my experience with the community through this fiasco has been a paradigm shift. We have a healthy tight group of folks who care about the fishery and each other. And even the guy who called strathmore fish and game and complained about it; gave my name and number to them which could have made only been known from this thread. Good luck at being a j***, I hope you choke on it, thanks pal.
  5. Thanks to everyone who helped out, I have her back. A special shout out to Eric Grinell with Silvertip Outfitters. A long time guide and probably one the most capable jet boat operators on the Bow. If anyone should find themselves in a similar situation this guy should be your first call. And could probably treat you to a quality guided trip if that's what your looking for. Without his help and a select few that took time out of their busy lives to come to the aid of someone who really need it, this couldn't be done. Additionally I lost thousands for dollars in rods and equipment, so if anyone should find some lost stuff check for my next post in the lost and found. Remarkably my boat bag was recovered several kilometres down stream and found its way back to me through Graham Pollock from Tightline Adventures in Banff and Iron Bow fly shop in Calgary. My eternal thanks to them as well. Appreciation can be shown to these business owners by your patronage. Once again thanks to all, be safe and tight lines!
  6. I made some progress today, I have rigging attached to the boat to shore but ran out of cable to get to a firm anchor on land. I still need two more people, and another boat to get everyone up and back that would be great. I'm confident I'll get her out tomorrow. Thanks. Share Share

  8. Again, please call 403-305-4427. All help on the water is appreciated.
  9. All input is helpful, it's just down from the highwood, there's an access road on that side for easy sight. If you can get in there that would be grand. Nothing can be done from that side though.
  10. Trying to recover my anchor, everything went sideways from there. Can you help?
  11. Ok, so we're going to make an attempt tomorrow afternoon with four people including myself, to up right it with an on shore anchor. I have Eric out of carseland lending is boat and knowledge to the task and two more to help. This isn't a safe undertaking and more people and know how will make this safe for all. Please help. We don't want her sitting there do we?

  13. Hi, yes, my number is 403-305-4427. Simple bad decisions and terrible outcomes. I've lost a lot more here than just an f'd up boat. I'm lucky to be alive today. I'm pleading to the community to help me with this. Anyone who can donate some time and effort and needed equipment would surely be appreciated. Thanks to all who have commented and shown concern. Let's all be safe out there and catch lots of big browns and live to tell about it

  15. So to clarify, I wouldn't ask any one to pull anything with their boats or do something that isn't safe. Just to get people and equipment to the site. Having more than one boat and more people would make this safer and perhaps easier. We're going to make an attempt tomorrow. But if that doesn't work and it's still recoverable then Saturday also.
