  1. Google earth and 20 dollars of fuel....

Some guys actually do footwork, go for drives, hikes, ASK PERMISSION on said drives to gain access.

    C'mon not rocket science here.

Did that, all the way from the new hospital to Mac Flats, every road turning south. Not looking for anything special, just some HELPFUL advice.

Thanks to those that sent me PM's and posted up here, I really appreciate it.

  2. So 97 views and no one has any info? Is there a special handshake I need to know? LOL. You can PM if you don't want to post publicly, but I find it hard to believe that the only access to the north side of the bow from police is at 2 places. Trying to get to areas that are fairly flat to walk as the wife has a real crapped out knee ATM and hills are killer.

  3. So today I tried heading down rr285 to take the road in front of the burnco plant but ran into a locked gate. My question is where do you get access to the north side of the Bow across from the cottonwood golf course? I've taken every road from the north down to the Bow and have only found access at the highwood confluence. Any help would be great.

  4. We happen to be lucky having all these wonderful venues to buy stuff from right here in town. For others the ability to purchase direct online will benifit them. Even here in town you can waste a lot of money driving from shop to shop looking for something.

While I'm at it, anyone know who carries bug bond locally?

  5. Just out of curiosity, I am not a guide but have used an excellent one this year, what is bringing this issue up? What are the reasons that some would like to see this? Is it the quality of the service that is in question, a major risk to unsuspecting customers, what would be the need for a regulated guide? This is purely a question out of ignorance as I have no idea if there is a problem.

  6. Letting ppl keep one fish of a certain size would work best IMO, it takes the elitist fly fisherman argument away from the bonkers. It would also keep most of them away from the lake because they could only keep one and they wouldn't find it worth their time to go there. Win Win, lol

  7. Hey everyone,

Been fly fishing under a year now, and one thing I have never come across on any forum is when do you hit the rivers? What time do you make your way streamside and why? Does it depend on what trout your going after ie, browns vs bows, or is it more weather specific. My casting is getting better and I am getting into fish, but still have lots to learn. TIA everyone.

  8. Due to a pretty short notice cancelation, I have two spots on a guided bow river float for saturday the 9th. Cost is $200/angler. The river is on fire right now and this is a great chance to get out and experience the bow at it's best. Starting very early for dry fly chances on stoneflies which should be starting soon... drop me a PM if you are interested in this trip. See my signature for link to Bow River Adventures website and more details about the floats (we are a proud sponsor of FFC)

For references drop a PM to GaryF or kphebert on this forum who I floated with this last saturday. :)

Do it guys!! That float was one to keep in the lifetime memory banks. We tied into so many fish that we lost count!! Just the help that I got with my casting was worth every penny, let alone everything else that Brian did for us throughout the day. Treat yourself to a great time, you won't be disapointed.

  9. just got electric trolling motor for 9 foot outcast pontoon

any recommendations for battery and charger

-is marine deep cycle worth the money or just use car battery

    -is regular charger ok

will 12 volt last all day

    thanks mark

Definately get a deep cycle battery, car batts are not designed to drain completely and you will kill it in short order. As for how long a batery lasts, thats up to you. If you are going full out all the time, they will drain quicker. Get a battery with the most capacity that your boat can handle(weight wise). The larger the trolling motor(more thrust) the more juice it will drain.

  10. So as a new guy, what would be the proper ettiquette(sp) in this situation? What if I was heading down and scoping the river and noticed rises that were happening and there was another guy nearby(>100') that wasn't even looking at them? Do I go and fish the rises if he isn't or what? Do I make him aware of the rising fish and I pass up on it? Trying to get this whole thing figured out. We all just want to fish, but I have noticed that some ppl out there are darn right ornery about anyone being even within 200' of them, and I don't take kindly to someone yelling at me when I'm just trying to enjoy the day.

  11. So my question as a newbie is between the 2 types of hackling methods, is there a difference on the way they catch fish? From and underwater viewpoint the fish can't see the wings so I am curious if one fishes differently than the other or if all the complexities of tying in wings is more for the angler vs the fish. Awsome forum btw!
