  1. I'm surprised every time i look into the worm bins at fly shops and theres always that bait hook.

Myself I've gouged a few eyes out with that hook when it first came out and have switched to a small gape streamer hook ever since.

we've talked about this before and i can't remember who posted it but someone makes a better hook then the bait hook. Not sure who makes it.

    AND U STILL FISH IT?

  2. I work with a fella named Lorne, over the years we became friends and would often discuss flyfishing over coffee. Finally we had an opportunity to plan an outing. I was quite nervous, Lorne has 30 years experience flyfishing and to be frank, all that BS'ing (read, chestpounding and horn tooting) over coffee had generated some expectations that would now have to be met, It was sinking in that the next couple years of coffee breaks could become quite awkward and humiliating.

When that sunny Saturday morning arrived, I woke to realize I had forgotten to set my alarm, as I scurried out the door I realized Lorne was likely already on the water and my aspiration of keeping up fish for fish was lost - Ohh the shame... I obliterated the speed limit driving to the trailhead, and then I practically ran the entire hike in to the alpine lake. I was exactly two hours late, not to mention sweaty and covered in breakfast crumbs. Sitting on the bank, reading, was Lorne's wife Rosalina, I introduced myself, we exchanged pleasantries, and she went on to explain that I hadn't missed anything. after donning my waders and belly boat, I kicked out to Lorne and he gave me a lengthy explaination about what he had employed and how all efforts bore no fruit per se "they are just not taking today, Rob". After making appoligies for my tardiness, I tied on an EHC, cast, and dragged out a nice V. Slam !!! My fly was immediatly taken by what proved to be a 14 inch Cutty. As I held the cutty up for Lorne to inspect, I will never forget the shrill-high fillapino voice of Lorne's wife, echoing across the still morning air, "HA HA HA LORNE....YOU SUCK !!!" I don't think I stopped smiling that entire day.

I had arrived just in time, and from that moment on we both preceeded to have a stellar day of surface cutthroat action. Good times, ...and I love taking coffee breaks at work with Lorne !

aha round eye you good fishman!

  3. I was fishing with my friend Flyfishy one day and we caught fish. We had a great day. Flyfishy outfished me as usual.

He popped brown trout from under logs all day. we were fishing in the Dead man's flats area.

He may be the shittiest texter in the world, but I dare anyboody on this board to outfish him on the bow. complete nutcase but we love him!

Some of our best fishing pals are nut cases, lets here some more stories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. there is lots of access to that part of the river if u have money or know somebody at trans alta or if u are a MD of rockyford Crony.........or can buy an exclusive lakefront lot at Emerald bay. Its nice to know that thirty or so families have exclusive rights to run motorboats icefishing shacks on North calgary's water supply at Bears Paw. Makes closing the parking lot all the more critical for us unimportant regular folk with only one vote. P.S. how does that lazy piece of crap Rob Anders keep getting elected? answer. Complacentcy from the rest of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! feed Rob Anders to the Pike and lets get some real representation i

  5. What a disaster. Can someone bring in an interpreter?

sorry, i can't be the interpreter for my buddy flyfishy. we once fished on the planet Vulcan but i could not understand what he and his Klingon buddies were doing. I'm not very familiar with flyfishing intergalactic cheese patterns.

Fishing and tying flies with flyfishy is alot easier than trying to figure out his internet posts!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Bow River Winter Fly Recipie

    - 1 cup (250ml) slurpee sedges

    - 2 1/2 cup didymo

    - 1 tbsp ground drift boat bottoms

    - 67 waterboatman legs

    - 22 stone cold stone tails

    - 1 cup caddis cubes (for thickening the gravy)

    - box kraft dinner (in case u suck when it comes to chef style cooking)

    - 1 cup frozen san juan gelato

combine all ingredients in a sauce pan that does not belong to you and simmer till it smells.

feed to your drunk fly fish pals.

  7. Maybe if the government placed some decent sized fish into the put and take ponds, ( sevren res., dewits pond, sibbald flats area, ect) people might not be so tempted to go to these out of the way places for nice trout. Its hard to make a meal out of a little squiggly six inch fish!

  8. I've seen so many cool videos from people doing more 'extreme' sports with the GoPro HD cameras... like in this video (skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling - hmm, common theme there?): http://gopro.com/

Got me thinking how cool it would be to wear one while dry fly fishing a crazy hatch.. do any one you own one of these? Have you tried this? I think it'd be super cool! Although.. i'm sure many of you would be choked if a person didn't edit out every single piece of "background" evidence.. you know, because noone else fishes that spot on the lower Bow.. <--poke--< I think it'd be even more awesome on some of our mountain streams and lakes where the scenery is breathtaking..

yup they are the best! have to have the chesty harness because it gets u close to your reel and u get a great sound effect from the reel ripping line! the HD hero is well worth the 500 bucks if u get all the accessories including the back screen for viewing. i've watched it on my big screen hd tv and it is just like a fishing show. hd hero>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. $37.50 average wow, i would have thought more around $70.If you get a cart a few beers and a sandwich its $100.Never mind the lost balls.

mind the fact that u can lose alot of flies too! a shuttle service, beer and gas> and u are into a c-note in no time> and don't forget Tim Hortons in the morning too!

  10. if your laundry drain is plugged, then i would first try sulfuric acid. it is available at most cheapo depot plumbing departments, it eats thru every thing. but be carefull it is very corrosive and stinks like crazy, it also reacts violently with water.let the drain empty out slowly, pour it in the drain, the whole bottle and cover the end of the drain for the fumes, leave for 1/2 hour and then flush with cold water. turns chrome and stainless steel black. be careful with this stuff. 20 bucks is cheaper than having a plumber like me come for a vist! haha
