The Mackenzie DTX design team are excited with the launch of it’s new range of Shooting head rods, this range is following on from the phenomenal success of it’s award winning range of DTX Spey rods, the design team have created something very special in this new range of Shooting head rods, and lines for 2011,this new range combines over a 100 years of collective experience on the river bank, along with modern thinking and up to date 21st Century technology.

This DTX blank has been designed to suit modern shooting head line systems.

The handle has been specially designed to give the caster perfect bottom hand grip for better control when flexing the rod, and the correct upper hand positioning on the handle so the caster flexes the rod correctly, making casting effortless.

The full range of rods were tested in Russia, and Tierra del Fuego last year and all models excelled, in some of the harshest, and most challenging environment in fishing,

  3. So far so good,

We have been overwhelmed by the response to this right across the country! definantly room to expand. The kits will offcourse be on a first come first served basis but We ask though that groups be 4 or more to help get the best out this.

We have added 2 Snowbee 7ft #5-6 Junior Classics .These were made for the youngs uns. Super light weight and easy to cast..

  4. Hi All,

Following discussions with various people, Club members and customers alike this seemed like a good idea.

We have put together 4 Fulling Mill Gold gx rods ( great rods IMO) set up with RIO Demo lines .Any Club, Association, School or even a group of individuals looking to hold some sort of open/ casting days with beginners young or old can borrow these.

We have a couple of 6 weights and a couple of 7 weights ready to go and available for anyone. We will cover shipping to and from our store. We hope by providing a service like this new folks will be encouraged into the sport and you dont have to lend them your gear in the process!

Absolutely no liability for the equipment comes with this .In the event of the rods breaking or whatever and is likely to happen i guess then so be it! We will just replace them.

Its a small start and if it proves to be popular we will put more rods together and may even look into doing the same with some spey rod set ups

If your an intrested party please conatct us at info@flymart.ca and tell us more about your event, perhaps we could make a package more tailor made.

    Thanks

    Scott

  5. Chuck and duck!!

Use heavier & shorter tippet - like 4-6 feet of 3X or heavier.. try and slow down your casting stroke a bit and open up your loops. I think the more line you have out, the better it can carry the streamer out there. I will literally do a double haul and then duck down to a crouching position sometimes! hahaha

Although you can cast streamers with lighter rods, having a heavier rod like a 7 or 8 weight I think makes it a bit easier too.

All great advice , rods in the 9ft-10ft bracket will make things easier aswell.

  6. I agree anything thats in that range will do. Scientific Anglers pro series line is another one worth a mention. Big heavy flies and long leaders can also get down a bit . If your fishing from a boat i definantly recommend using a drift sock to slow you down , if you go at any pace the line just lifts up as i found out the hard way!

  7. Intresting information but what I really wanna know is WHY would I want to pick up one of these sticks. WHAT makes it better then the rods I presently own (Goran Anderson 6112, Loop Multi 7130, and Goran Anderson 9126)

Alot of times I find there is not much information on Why and What when buying or replacing a rod, that I just shurg my shoulders and skip it.

Thanks for a very good point .It takes time especially for new product reviews to filter through. Although we will be bringing these rods and others including some from Loop around the shows with us so you can compare and make your own assesment just with a wider variation . Information on items can be found through our website ,the websites of manufacturers and online forums such as this one.

We also offer a full refund on any item that doesnt meet customer requirments once theyve tried it out

Vision in flyfishing - WorldwideFly Fishing is not only a fun sport for us. We at Vision also love developing fly tackle and promoting this great way of using your valuable free time. Being serious but having fun at the same time and not forgetting the main issues of fly fishing has taken us to the position we have today. There's Vision in fly fishing in over 30 countries world wide.

    VISION STAFF

People often ask who’s behind the Vision brand and what kind of people they are. This year we decided to pull the curtain aside a little and reveal this “secret”. We are the band who plays music on stage and behind the scenes. But just as in any good music, the band isn’t everything. It’s the tunes, the melodies and the feeling they put together. We are not posing as a world famous rock band. Our creations, Vision products, are the ones to make a splash, tell our story and create the Vision feeling. And just as in every band, we also need fans. To us fans are more like people who work with us, help us, and who dig us around the world. Without you we wouldn’t rock so hard live.

  9. Trailor

    Hi Guys,

I have put up for auction a 13ft DTX spey rod designed by Scott Mackenzie on a well known speycasting web site, it has a couple of days left but right now is sitting at $560.00 , got to be worth a look at that price.

Last weekend the DTX range of rods was voted best product at the Tweed Fly Fishing show by the visitors to the show, these rods are really something special.

    Gordon.

These rods are awesome ! as are the his lines .Watch out for his new 8-9 DTX line its coming soon .I would also recommend Scott Mackenzies DVD to anyone . Magical! Click to see DVD trailor

  10. Wife and I are planning to visit Iceland for a few days and hopefully get in one or two days of fly fishing (since it's Sept it'll be probably sea-trout and browns). I'd appreciate anyone's recommendations for guides or outfits there since it'll be the first time there as well as any other tips you can share.

Their government also needs all equipment disinfected for diseases and need a certificate to be presented. Anyone ever had this done before for visiting other countries and if so which veterinary does it in Calgary?

    Thanks.

The salmon fishing ive heard is second to none but its pricey also seasons done on the 31st! see

these guys they have access to some unbelievable water and they have general information about the disinfection process once you arrive at the airport - http://www.lax-a.net/iceland/fishing-icela...xa-in-asum.html

we stopped over for a few days last year but i opted for a weeks fishing in Scotland compared to a day in iceland! talk about being so close but so far!
