  1. Just learned my regular haunts for sharp tails on the north side of suffield are closed because of bovine tb. Now I'm scrambling to find a place to go for the last day of the season on the 31. I want to get one or two to mount. Haven't been out in a couple years for them do does anyone have any suggestions on areas to look?

  2. Contact skeena Spey, great guys. You can also take a couple lessons with them. I did that last fall when learning how to Spey cast. I then did 3 day trips with them spread over two different works trips out there. They don't necessarily reserve classified water days for their week long guests, they take you to what's been fishing best and what water clarity is best. Saying that, I spent one day on non-classified waters with them at the end of August and got a bunch of pinks, which I was happy with seeing as it was my first day ever Spey fishing. Then the end of October I spent one day on the kkalum with them where we got some ho's. The second day we spent on classified stretch of the skeena because it had the best clarity. At that time of year most guides are fishing the tributaries like the kkalum so we literally didn't see another person all day. The second day we accomplished what I have wanted to do since I was a small boy and caught my first steelhead. Now I'm hooked. Keep in touch as I know the area fairly well and am wanting to start getting out there at least for a week every fall.

  3. Same as any streamer I'd use with a single hand rod - clousers, leeches, sculpins... If you're asking which rate sink tip on a skagit, I mainly use a Rio type 3 and adjust my depth by changing casting angle, mending, and walking it down.

Thanks for the info. I've been down practising my casting with t8 mostly and just some black and purple steelhead flies. Haven't expected to catch much with this setup but my main focus is practising my casting anyways.

  4. Thanks for the suggestions, I think we are going with Keta. I will post a pic when we get her next week, Shepherd/boxer mix is looking a little off, lol. Its looking more like a lab (she has the ears, personality and webbed feet) and maybe a boxer or something like a mastiff that is brindle coloured.

  5. Some more that we like so far are Keta, Mykiss, Char and Simms. I personally like Skeena but the girlfriend says it sounds to much like her ex=bf's last name. I also like Nass, Zymoetz, Kalum or Bulkley. As you can see my mind is on the steelhead, salmon and the westcoast haha.
