    Hello,

Since Fly fishing and beer go hand in hand I thought I would introduce myself and our new exciting store in Calgary. My name is Kyle and I am the retail manager at ZYN.CA. We are located in Inglewood beside the old Molson Brewery. Zyn is a massive retail shop and also online purchasing site. We have OVER 600 BEERS from 35 different countries to choose from.

We also host many great beer tastings! Check out our web site for up coming events www.zyn.ca.

Tonight we are hosting Dieu de Ciel from Quebec, This old school Micro-brewery is one if not the top rated in Canada. Tasting starts at 7:30 and tickets are $25.00, but for I will do them half price $12.50 for any member. You can contact me for tickets at 403-543-8900 or kyle@zyn.ca.

COME CHECK US OUT 1543 17th ave S.E.

I will try and drink it all!!! I'm such a pig!!!

  3. I am looking at purchasing a new set up and not sure what the best way to go about it really is. The last time i purchased a new set up(low end) I just went to Wholesale and purchased what the salesman recommended and never even tested it out before I bought. I have read a lot of content on this forum that states you should cast before you buy. So the question is what is the process? Do you cast the rod in the parking lot, do they let you take it to the river for a day? Also how do you purchase the correct line for the rod type and casting style without purchasing a bunch of lines.

I would like to purchase a better setup then before and will be spending more money on this setup then the past so I would like to do it right.

I would strongly recommend you head to either Fish Tales or Bow River Troutfitters in Calgary. They have qualified people who can fit you with the appropriate equipment to get more enjoyment out of fly fishing. It may be a good idea to ask about the various fly fishing classes the offer.

  4. Here's an interesting quote from Stelmach's great TILMA treaty with BC.

    Standards & Regulations

TILMA requires the Governments of Alberta and British Columbia to:

    * Mutually recognize or reconcile existing standards and regulations that restrict or impair trade, investment or labour mobility.

    * Not establish new standards or regulations that could restrict or impair trade, investment or labour mobility.

    * Reduce differences in standards or regulations that achieve legitimate objectives.

    * Notify each other of standards and regulations that may affect interprovincial trade, investment and labour mobility.

In addition to tackling differences, TILMA specifically calls on the provincial governments to work together to enhance sustainable development, consumer protection, environmental protection, health and safety standards and labour standards.

Surely these are new standards that "restrict or impair trade". So is the Alberta government going to do anything about it?

    Don't hold your breath.

Spoken like a true "Liberal." We know what is best for you!!
