Nice pics Steve. It was a fun day.
Sure was!
Let's not wait 'til next summer to get out again; we'll go harass some Bow River fish during the fall/winter!

It's that time of year again.
Lots of good water closed until mid-June.
Murray & I headed to one of those creeks for the last day of the season.
We caught a few fish, I took some pics...
Even got some looking up...
Murray hooked up with a cutty...
I got this cutty with a pretty serious heron divot in his back...

I had my fishing gear in the trunk of my car yesterday.
Was thinking about hitting the Bow when I got off work at 3pm.
Drove to the river, listened to the game on the way.
Decided to go home & watch the game instead.
Sure glad I did.
It was epic in so many ways.
Even the idiot "fans" couldn't ruin it...

Curious... You obviously can afford such an awesome rod, why drink such crappy beer!!
Great photos, thanks for sharing.
C'mon, Pete; you know it's not polite to stare at another man's Busch...

Loving that "browns and bows" net with the spots on the handle.
Great pics!!!!!! Love the net
Believe it or not, a most excellent fellow brought that net all the way from new Zealand for me; got me a heckuva deal on it, too.
I don't want to embarrass him by going on & on about what a phenomenal dude he is, so I won't say who it was; I'll just say that it was a Flyfishcalgary member.
...and, I quoted him in this comment.
...and, he's not dirty.
Awesome pics! Can't say I blame the little fella. I wouldn't want to kiss a walleye either... between the teeth and the fin spikes, I was lambasted more than a few times when we fished them as a kid. Arguably still the best tasting freshwater fish I've ever had though.
You forgot about the knife blades on the cheeks.
First one I ever caught sliced me open pretty good.
he was delicious!

Great shots Steve. Do you have a name for the big spotted brown...you must have a caught him a few times this year. Beautiful fat Cutts you are finding!
Good to see you guiding the wife and the young fella.
Not sure if I've had any repeat customers??? Been getting 'em from different spots every time out.

My 3 year old nephew wanted to catch a fish...
Who could say "no" to that face?
Not me; wife & I took him to Pine Coulee Reservoir; he got his first fish & a bunch more...
This was his reaction when I told him to kiss the fish...
Then, he went in for the french kiss...
Of course, he spent more time throwing rocks than he did fishing...
It was a super fun day!

Another great set of photos, Neil.
I particularly like this one. It appears as though the happy little canola field is doing it's damnedest to hold off that big ol' nasty storm cell!
Epic!

Only if you are alone, or sight fish nymphing, which for anyone who hasn't done it really fun!
by the way, if anyone is interested in a folk fest primer, I just put up part 1 of my 2 part edmonton folk fest 2015 post. Not fishing, but....
Yup, watching 3 cutties fighting to be the first to get to your chenille worm can be exciting, fer shore!
BTW, I read your latest blog entry yesterday.
Good stuff; now make with Part Dos!

Am I allowed to nymph for cutties?
