  1. I bought mine at Cabelas in the States two summers ago for $1100. I'm not sure if Cabelas still carries the 2400, it's not on their website but all the other Yamaha models are. Cabelas might even ship them up here, I know they did in the past. Blackfoot's website has them listed at $1900, on sale for $1770, ouch.

And I just use and adaptor for the 30 amp plug, it comes in handy when you're at campgrounds with only 15 amp service as well.

  2. Prior to purchasing mine, I did a bit of research and discovered that the Yamaha inverter is supposedly quieter than the Honda.

    Yamaha EF1000iS - 47db

    Honda EU1000I - 59 dB @ rated load 53dB @ 1/4 load

The Hyundai HY2000si @ wallyworld is 65DBA at rated load

Interesting. One thing to remember - if you want it to run your A/C you will need at least 2000W. 1000W isn't going to cut it. I've got the Yamaha 2400iS which starts the A/C on my trailer no problem, my buddy has the 2000W Hyundai and that starts his A/C (13,500 BTU) as well, which I was somewhat surprised but it did it. The max load will be when you first start up the A/C unit as everything is trying to go at once and trying to get the compressor going. Once the A/C is up and running the generator will ramp back down and just hum along.

  3. I've got a Yamaha and love it but another option to look at would be a Hyundai. A buddy of mine bought one at Walmart for $600, it's a 2000W inverter and it will run his A/C. Seems fairly quiet as well, comparable to my Yamaha. And it's small, easy to carry. The down side is you will have to go to Walmart but the plus side is you don't have to get any attitude at Blackfoot. Something to consider anyway. What ever you do don't buy one at an RV place, as I'm sure you know you'll get hosed.

  4. I'm glad they finally made it right but it still disgusts me that it needed someone with connections to take it to an executive level to get that done. What that means is that they have their customer service set up to deny, deny, deny and do not give in. $80 to $18,000 is pure BS. Sure is big of them to reduce it to $800, a mere 1000% more than what you signed up for, and give the ol' "now or never - don't think just do it". So slimy.

  5. You could try Johnson's Lake. It's a small lake you can walk around and should have some luck. Two Jack Lake is also in the same area. Remember you will need a National Park Fishing License. You could stop in at Monod Sports in town and ask them for recommendations as well.

  6. We moved in December and used Jay's Moving. Like you we packed and unpacked our own stuff and moved the important things ourselves. I would recommend them for sure. A nice thing was being able to get boxes from them and then return them for a full refund. We got all the boxes we needed (and more) and took our time unpacking, returned them about 3 weeks later and got all the money back. The crew did a good job and they were fast. They showed up at about 9:30 and were leaving the new house at about 4:30. I just had to stand there and tell them what rooms to put the boxes. I would use them again. Hope this helps.

  7. LOL...

You know what? I'm not even that upset. I'd be more upset if the team gave 100% all game and got screwed by the refs, but this was total domination by one team over another. Period.

Time to dismantle the flames. Keep the core, Iggy, Dion, Kipper, and I'd like to see Nolan, and Regehr back.

    Guys I'd have back

    Lombardi

    Yelle

    Tanguay

    Nystrom

    Vanermeer

    Sarich

    Langkow

Guy's I'd dump: Huselius, Erikson, Conroy

    That's my 2 cents

My thoughts exactly. I'd also keep Primeau too. But I would fire Keenan, I wasn't happy they signed him to begin with and I hope he sealed his fate by pulling Kipper. That was a bonehead move, he should be fired for that alone.

  8. I've had Sirius for 2 years now and love it. I've never lost the signal in the mountains either. I got mine because of the crappy Calgary stations, I was tired of hearing the DJ's talk & talk some more, then follow it up with commercials, then come back on and talk some more because they like to talk. With Sirius there are no commercials and they keep the talking to about 5 - 10 seconds between songs, on the channels I listen to anyway. I bit the bullet and paid the lifetime fee. It hurt once and now I don't have to do it again. :)

  9. Thanks for the replies, 3 wt it is. I'll have to cast a few more rods & see what I like best, but I like what I'm hearing about the G2. And from what I've read on the 'net, the cork reel seat shouldn't be a problem, plus I think they're kind of cool. I've thought about building one as I think it would be pretty fun, but I think I'll wait and maybe build a 4 wt or 2 wt next winter. So many options, so little time.

H2O - do you have pics of your custom G2?

  10. Thanks for the replys, I had just assumed that tankless was the way to go. I guess that's what you get for watching too many home improvement shows. Good point about the scale, I could see that being a problem here. The idea of tankless sounds good but I guess they have a ways to go yet, and I didn't realize they were that expensive. Since the tanks aren't in the way at all I'll probably just replace them when the time comes. And since I'll be saving money by not going to tankless I should be able to buy more fishing gear. Win win. :D

    Thanks again.

  11. do you have a huge bath tub or something of the sort?

that could be why there are two to start with.

so if you use the big tub you will need both tanks to fill it

Good point, that could be why. But since I haven't had a bath since I was probably 7 years old I don't think I'll worry about it. ;) And a tankless is supposed to be unlimited hot water so I see it replacing both tanks. And they are about 10 years old now so I'm thinking sooner rather than later to change them out. I'd hate to come home one day and find that one of them let go.

  12. I didn't want to hijack Sundancefisher's thread but it got me thinking. I recently moved and the house has 2 hot water tanks. There is only two of us so we don't need two tanks. I'm thinking for now I'll just turn the gas off to the first one but the plan is to eventually go to a tankless model. Does anyone out there have one? Any suggestions as to brands & features? I don't know anything about them and don't know if they are all pretty much the same or not. Any idea on the cost of one?

  13. I've got the Chota STL boots and like them. They come with screw-in studs (sheet metal screws) so you can put them in or take them out. Definately like the studs for the winter. They're comfortable but I don't know that I would do a lot of hiking in them though, they aren't real sturdy. I have walked 3 or 4 kms a day in them and no problems.

  14. I'm looking at getting a 2 or 3 wt rod for the small streams, Livingston, Oldman, Dogpound, etc as well as some mountain lakes. The smallest rod I have now is a 5 wt so I'm looking at something smaller. What are everyone's thoughts - is a 2 wt too small? Is there much of a difference? I was originally thinking 3 wt and have test drove a few - G-Loomis Whisper Creek, Sage SLT, & Sage TXL. It was kind of breezy that day so it was hard to tell, but I liked the 7'10" TXL the most, way more than the 7'0" TXL, but I'm not sure I want a fast rod. And I'm not crazy about the TXL being a 3 piece as I will be wanting to throw it in the pack for some hiking. I'd like to try the Scott G2. Does anyone have any experience with the Scott G2? Everything I've read sounds good but I'm not too sure about the cork reel seat. I'd be worried about the reel falling off. Is this an issue? Any comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
