My dad and I have that same boat in Red i wanted to call it the red baron........he calls it his hahahahaha

  2. Thanks for the help guys!!!!! I am really excited to get started (just wish i could do it right now). Its sounding more likely i will stick to birds for awhile at least. I am a chef so the eating part is as as important to me as the the time spent outdoors, which is why i am interested in larger game as well. Anyway for now im going fishing. Im sure i will have many more questions to come and i will surely post here.

    Thanks alot for your help

  3. I have been fishing for most of my life and in recent years have started to gain interest in hunting! I realize the season is in full swing so i am looking ahead to next year. I will be getiing my P.A.L. and taking the hunter safety course this winter. I was thinking that birds would be a good starting point but i am also interested in larger game like deer or elk. I was wondering after i am licensed what sort equipment will i need. Obviously i will need a gun but what type should i be looking at ect. Also what are some things i cant really go without. Any help would be greatly appreciated or if someone could point me in the direction of some quality information i would appreciate it.

    Thanks

  4.

this is Bobs website, http://www.steelheadexcursions.com/ . He isnt the only show in town. I would recommend the bulkley river lodge, http://www.steelheadbc.com/ . They cover the whole river tip to toe, jetboats or rafts, and gourmet food. All the guides are great guys and great fisherman.

You will also find that on most rivers up there, outfits only do one week trips. This helps eliminate plans like yours of (guided a couple of days, shown some spots and then do it yourself in those same spots)

Unfortunately the cost of those trips are WAY out of our budget. Just cuz someone shows us a couple of runs does not mean we are not capable of finding our own! Thats part of the fun!

  5. My Dad and I along with my younger brother are planning to go steelheading next year. We have our eyes set on the skeena system. I know there are a fair number of ppl on this board that head there regularly or have been and i was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good guide. Or plan is to fish on the way out and then a couple days steelheading with a guide and a couple on our own then fish on out way back. We wont be staying in any of the lodges i have found on the internet as the cost is incredible. So if anyone knows of a good guide in the area that would take us our for a couple of days that would be great as we will probably book for next year within a few months.

    Thanks to all

  6. You can talk to the guys at Fish Tales. They carry them.

Really? Since when? I go in there ALOT and have never seen them. I was in there today in fact and looked (not very hard) in the rod section.

well i guess ill ask them on the weekend when i go to get my new waders hahaha

    thanks

  7.

Take the cape out of it's plastic hang it some where and and air it out for a while, it should lessen the smell. I get the odd cape like that but it dosn't bother me, all my capes are in the same drawer of the roll top. The way I figure it it helps keep the bugs off my other capes.

fair enough i was tying with it last night and about 5 seconds after i forgot all about it

  8. Don't lick it! In all seriousness though, I've bought capes before that absolutely stunk, Just dealt with it and ether I got use to it or it went away. However if you really not impressed I'd give him a call and see what he say's.

im not too worried about it just curious thats all as i said the quality looks to be very good so ill deal with the smell!!!

  9. SO i just got a dry fly beginner pack from howard Hackle and it very nice. The quality seems very high (to my in experienced eyes) so all and all i am really happy with it. However it smell REALLY strong like moth balls or something and i haven't even opened the bag yet. Anything i can do?

  10. Was that you in line ahead of me at Fish Tales this morning? Can't go wrong with the ice dub.

probably i seem to be there alot lately (well more then usual anyway)
