All six arrived safe and sound at home, no charge at customs. I think they knew exactly why I needed it when I told them I lived in Edmonton.....

  2. Hangin' in Bermuda for a few weeks and have had opportunities to taste a few rum(s), so far,

Ron Z. 15 year, I think, very nice.

    Mount Gay

    Mount Gay XO, goood.

El Dorado, 15 year, like it, alot.

Goslings Black, nice flavor. We drink this one at home.

    Goslings Gold, meh.

Thinking of bringing back some Goslings XO, anybody try it? Feedback?

Also are any of the premium Bacardi rums good? Their international headquarters are here and the high end stuff is readily available, for a price.....

    Cheers,

  3. Dave,

You're killin' me here.....we had January booked to join family there and had to cancel last minute due to unfinished busuness. The family members are returning next week, but the thought of experiencing just a little of what you decsribe here and on your blog is very attractive and NZ remains on the short list for sure.

Thank you for the reply and thanks for your blog I have been enjoying it for quite some time now.

Here's hoping you and Amelia will have more of those unforgettable NZ experiences in the near future.

    Regards,

    Ayr.

Ayr - the cicadas in NZ are amazing right now. After this unsettled bit of weather settles down it'll be back at it and carry through early April. Scroll through our blog (signature) to see some shots of the last little while. I missed a 13+ lb fish today. It was cycling, looked at the fly for 15 to 20 sec on a painfully slow drift - the kind it hangs at your fly and drifts with it - and then kept going. Pretty cool when a huge fish hangs inches from your fly in flat water for that long. I certainly wasn't expecting even that much attention in the location I was fishing - so close to the hwy.
  4. Hey Guys/Gals;

Let's say you had a month or so from mid-Feb. to mid-March to check an item(s) off your bucket list. Where would you love to go this time of year to fly fish? Any of you know of "bucket" locations that are in the prime "season" in the next month or so?

    Let's here your suggestions,

    Thks much,

    Ayr.

  5. Awesome pics/trip good for you!

I had booked to be there for January and had to cancel last minute. If I wasn't kicking myself hard enough before, these pics add any needed velocity.

    Thx for posting!

    Ayr.

  6. The boatmen/swimmer activity has been pretty good for most of the last week on Muir. Today was different though, no/little surface activity. Fishing a boatman/swimmer under an indie, while the wind was blowing was lights out this afternoon.

    Cheers,

    Ayr.

  7. Brugal and Flor de Caná you most say.....I'll try em!!!!

Great thread! I also 2nd the Pyrat XO if you haven't tried it. I've never mixed it yet. Great "ice fishing" rum :ppirattee:

Appleton Master bleand is amazing. I'm smelling a bottle of it right now. Strong vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugary....gotta go!!!

He's not kidding, he will try them!! :argggg: Another vote on the Pyrat XO, had a taste of that at SNAP's place on a fly tying evening. The flies were abominations, so the rum had to be good !

Thanks for the suggestions guys, so far I have picked up the Mount Gay XO, and the Black Seal to try since seeing this thread, and will keep an eye out for the others.

Oh, and another vote for the Appleton's Master Blend, goood.

    Love this thread

    Ayr.
