  2. depends on what you are fishing for will dictate the needs..if you're after Roosters then you might really want a good rod/reel outfit that won't cripple your arm ..9wt rods are fine but 10 and 11 are better..can you imagine a 50 lb rooster on a 9 wt rod..thats a battle royale! Don't cheap out on this...

  8. Drop by South Bow over the week-end and get first hand on the costs and the technique...

    C

So whats with the spey dudes on the bow? Is it worth spey fishing? seems just like a way for the ballarinas to spin there line <--poke--<

Anyways i want to get in on the action it looks like theyre having fun nothing having to dip there hands in the water and just having 2 hands on the rod!

Whats a good full setup in 8-10wt for around 200-300 bucks? Hit me up i want to get something decent no plastic crap

  9. Since we introduced Switch rods into the Calgary market back in the dark ages(pre-switch rod craze).everyone has jiumped on board and brought out their own version..some successfully and others not so..

there are some very nice switch rods now available but none quite as keen as the Beulah rods..whats in store for weee fly fishers in the future, more of the same but better. we will have on hand some of the Beulah Platinum Switch and Spey rods..Snowbee Switch rods and Mystic Switch rods....some great new lines and a special prize for the most accurate cast with a switch rod..and it doesn't have to be on mentioned .There is a fine line between being able to cast a rod and being able to cast a rod effectively..

Come on by to South Bow ..should be a blast

  12. Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately I'm in Ontario at the moment. Otherwise I would definitely go to it.

Picking up a box store combo is not a good idea..unless you are wealhy or know completely what you want...did you get to the Grand River Spey(Paris, Ontario) gathering last week? Where approx in Ontario are you..? There are a few good budding spey casters out that way that could help..

send me a PM if you are interested

  13. I was on the Fraser Salmon fishing Pink, Chinooks, and Chum, when I was treated to a Steally, what a treat. Buddy was right, not looking for one, and Bingo, there it is. Love it, but I love our Bow bows ( who I have been led to believe have a strain of stealhead in them. Correct me if I am wrong.

    You are wrong!

  14. Hey Madpiper...sweet rod...your better options are to use a 10 Polytip likely floating and then about 9' of leader and more if you want...The elixirs are designed for using Polytips...another option is to lengthen the leader you are using to about 16',this way you can eliminate the need for a polytip...the Elixir cast beautifully with any of the Polytips from Floating thru super fast sink, but don't get these confused with Sink Tips;differnet animal altogether...Streamers are a breeze

    C

Anyone using this rod? I've been using an Elixer head matched to the rod with just a regular 9ft leader for nyphing. Looking for input on what others are using and perhaps their setups for streamers as well.

    Thanks!
