Hey all,

I'm a Newbie to fly fishing, started last year caught some really small ones, but am looking to get a guide to take me walking/wading for a day on the bow preferably either in Calgary or close to. To learn mostly and hopefully catch some bigger fish than the fingerlings. Can anyone give me good references on who is good guides and how far in advance to book and how much to pay??

Much appreciated.

not from my own personal experience but i would also say Maxwell. I think he knows what the hell he's doing (just search his pic's in the photo post section and you will see).

Seeing that your only criteria is "Walk & Wade", then the mang himself - Maxwell

P.S. Max, we'll all take our cut at a later date ;)

I'm in the same boat as you.

My friend and I booked two trips this summer, one with Dee Chatani @ troutchasers, and one with Jim Mclennan @ mclennanflyfishing both are supposed to be outstanding fly fisherman and great teachers.

Give Fish Tales a call and see who they can set you up with. Don;t know if they do walk and wades but they are a really good bunch of guys.....

The only expierience i have with guides on the bow is a walk and wade with Max. Simply put, if your not catching... you will be catching by the end o the day. Yeah you might catch a few fish, but you'll gain knowledge and have a better understanding of the river.
