(not trying to hate) I personal will not buy a fly fusion!! the articles are not well writen and its a photo porn spread thats it! Lots of times they will have a title on the cover and not have it in the mag. Dont much care if they are sponcers but i feal that the "birds" mag has a TON of improvement to do before i buy into it.

Fly tyer, hatches, drake, field and stream are much better for info/tips/destinations and all around layout.

Couple of online magazines I like. More picture orientated but there are a few articles. No how to articles.

Catch magazine

This is fly

I have the last couple fly fusion mags if you would like them to see if they are your cup of tea. PM me to set up a handover if you want them.

I will say this Fly Fusion has stepped up the content considerably in the last few issues, I feel their photos are the best in a fishing rag and even rival NatGeo.

I can only imagine how hard it is to run a sucessful fishing magazine, print media and the advertising behind it has tanked since the dawn of DSLRs. But this new mag that is starting to really pick up steam here and internationally was started by a Canadian family operating in our backyard.

The family that runs the mag does so much more than most people see for our sport.

Get a TU membership- you then get the Fly Fusion mag.

If you want "how to's" go to the typical drugstore FF mags (Flyfisherman, Fly Fishing and Tying Journal). American Angler is also picking up its game and has good content.

All of the above get old- stale content that is recycled in different forms every few years.

I still buy them when I see an article that I'm interested in, but I don't have a subscription anymore.

I have never missed an issue of Fly Fusion, but to be honest, I rarely read the whole thing as I don't find them relevant to local fishing nor cutting edge, nor creative enough. They do have good pictures though!

If you want great writing and photos that are fresh, get the Drake and FlyFish Journal.

These are the only two that I pay for a subscription for, but don't expect too much for techniques- and you get twitchy wishing you could go fishing every time you open one. Grays and Field & Stream also have good FF articles, but not enough to pay for a subscription.

anyone know where to get American Angler in town?

My favorites are Total Flyfisher and "Flyfishing and Flytying" both are from Europe and can be found in smoke shops. I like them because you don't have to "flip to page 77" to finish an article, you just turn the page.
