  1. Wow, I have been away in Oliver B.C. for a week and this has really takin off. I think I should dust off the old rod and flys and hit up a river somewhere this weekend. I just wanna catch some fish. I will apply the things being said here. Thanks for the get feedback.
  2. So we went out to the elbow yesterday and got there around 7 am fished our way back to Bragg Creek. Neither of us caught a fish or even had a bite and we are both becoming fed up with fly fishing. This is what bugs me I went out last year in about Aug - Oct and just was happy to be on the river, loving the feeling of the river washing past me and looking at the beauty on the banks here in our own city I would go to the same spot just down off deerfoot south of the bridge by the driving range just after the bow bottom turn off. I park at the driving range and walk straight in there. To date I have hooked 10 fish and Caught 1 which is good enough I am happy with that but I have been out a ton of times with nothing and had no action at all. Yesterday changed it from enjoying the beauty to frustration I can enjoy the beauty with out getting up early and putting on all the gear. I would like to have some action while I am out there and i understand that not everytime you go out will there be but I know it isnt that the fish aren't there they just dont like what I am doing. My Problem Areas: My water reading is weak? I dont have the money to drop on another reel and line so I can't have a stinking line and a floating, I am set up with floating line. I am super happy with my casting I can place it pretty much where ever I want, I just dont know where I should place it? I have no clue how to nymph. My flying ant has got me the most action. So someone please help me. I need good to the point advice (please do not suggest books, to the point works alot better for me) Help me enjoy this what could be a very wonderful sport. Second year turned back into to a frist timer Dustan

    Bait

Hey guy, this morning I headed out fishing and for the past few times I have been parking in Douglas dale at the driving range and today I got there at 7 and there was a guy sitting in the bushes and I figured he was fishing and just changing lures. I didn’t pick up on the fact he was using bait and pouching. He also was telling me to go down the river because there was good fishing so I just ignored him then I noticed a line in the water and it was attached to a pile of rocks So I figured it out this guy is no fishing for sport but pouching instead but he had gone. So I ask you this is there a number I can call next time I see a guy like this and what would he be charged with???? I would have just left him there and called someone to deal with him.... Thanks for your help Dustan
  6. Ok I got the hooper/dropper thing figured out and I will try it but the tippet issue is more of a what is the difference between a leader and a tippet and what is all the 6x 3x stuff? I am learning a lot today
  7. Well Thanks to all of you for the info. However being new to this sports I have a few question about what has been said so in point form here we go -hang a dropper nymph on 18 inches of mono tied to the bend of the dryfly -lighten your tippet -High stick nymphing with a short line. Sorry I will get it sooner or later then I will also be tossing around the lingo hahaha. From Dustan (pumped to fish the snot outta the bow tonight) Walker
  8. Afternoon everyone, I am brand new to this Forum thing all together. This is the only forum in the entire internet that I want to be a part of. So thank you in advance for your help and being here for me. Anyways I have just started fly fishing this year. I am picking up on the water reading thing pretty good but there are things I don’t understand still. I have visited the same hole Sat (1st fight with a fish on my fly rod about 14" RBT) Tues (some bites) Wed (1st fish caught on my fly rod 10"BT) and now Thursday (nothing) each day I spend about 2 hrs working this one hole I know there is fish because I have got a hole load of bites. Now that I have said that my question is today when I was there the water was the clearest it has been and the suns the hottest so where are the fish and what should I be using? I'm asking because what I think right now is the water is clear and most likely warmer so in turn the fish are deeper and feeding down low so my flies that float or even sink 4" or 5" won't work and that I should add weight and try for 4" or 5" off the bottom instead. Please let me know if I have the right idea or if I am way off... 2nd question I work till mid night tonight and I was told to hit up the water then and the fishing is pretty good a lot of big fish. So any tips from the pros would help? Or maybe I heard wrong and shouldn't waste my time?????? Thanks again everyone Have a Great Day Dustan T Walker.
