Orvis for me as well in 6wt!
-
I’m also aligned with that

Has anyone tried the Goat Head wading sole spikes to enhance grip on their Vibrams?
Thought I also read that Orvis is coming out with a Michelin tire tread sole Wading boot that is more plyable (similar to winter tires for added traction)

I would suggest that you try casting them both at a fly shop and see which one "feels right" for you. Choosing the right rod is about matching your natural "casting tempo" to the corresponding rod flex. Some folks have a faster casting pace and most often prefer "faster" rod actions. Others have a slower casting pace and prefer a full flex type rod. By casting rods with different flex, you will find the perfect match for you.
^^ Critical advice.
That said, BIG fan of my Orvis Recon

Fantastic! Well done and thank you for calling it in. Hoping as a repeat offender within two weeks he gets a very stiff fine

Orvis Helios 3... but it's pricey

That is simply fantastic!! Congratulations on an epic project.
Excited to see it when it's all built and ready to fish.
Keep the pictures coming and the story of the first ever fish landed with the reel.

I was intrigued by Patagonia's boots, but $685!!! Do not get me wrong---I want a pair. It might be worth it if they are legitimately the last boots that I would need to buy. Have you looked into what re-soling costs?
^ Hi scel.
Ok those Patagonia Danners are new......crazy expensive and not what I've been wearing!
Try patagonia.ca and then search ultralight boots. There will be felt and sticky versions at more humane pricing!

I had Chotas (Felt) and got about 1.5 seasons out of them. Bought them from Springbrook (The TFO guys). Candidly fair for what I paid for them.
I switched to Patagonia Foot Tractors (heavier boot but far better traction) and have been thrilled. Heading into my second season. Patagonia has lighter versions as well (think they are ultra lite). Both Patagonia and Orvis have fair satisfaction assurances on their gear.

Bought a micro brand called Vedavoo. Handmade fly fishing slings in US
Model I bought is called The Beast and find it fits the ideal balance between size and practicality for use and storage. Used it for past two seasons. Great net ring.
KEY for me is the sling sits on my left shoulder, off my right handed casting arm eliminating fatigue. Nothing in front when casting to tangle as well.
Vedavoo offers left or right shoulder models.
Hope that assists.

Suggest and encourage you to take a beginner course from one of the local fly shops.
Iron Bow Fly Shop in Dalhousie Station is your closest.
It will be money and time well spent

Just back from vacation. With the lower water it's either been dislodged or relocated to a different part of the river. Full of streamers. Please PM if you happen to find it and I'll happily identify the brand and colour.

Hard to beat Costco's pricing and included road hazard warranty.....

I was waiting for the Black Bear portion of the story "grazing" along with Don.....!
Pleased you are on the mend.

Very strong current to get to where it is....I'm NOT a strong wader. Will take you up on your PM if you're floating ( and assuming it hasn't moved)
-
Ok so I can see it in its submerged state ........but its in an area only accessible by kayak or pontoon boat (as they would have to beach on some rocky outcrops and wade over to grab it). Please PM if anyone might be floating by the Cranston area in a kayak or pontoon and wouldn't mind taking shot at retrieval..... I would be grateful ( and would have a small gift ).

Took a spill tonight in Cranston and my Fathers Day gift fly box floated away and presume eventually sank. Should anyone come across please PM me for identification.
Frustrating evening to say the least and piling on with vicious mosquitos....
